Went last night, and it was packed full. I had no choice on switching venues on such short notice, but I spoke with the staff, and was second in line to enter after another party. I opted to wait on the patio thinking it wouldn't be much of a wait and I had about forty-five minutes to kill, so I figured I'd drink a couple beer.
I watched one party ahead of me go in, and eagerly awaited the next table. Another party sat across from me, and they were seated inside first. The Brown Hound doesn't have reservations, so I knew something was up, and wondered why other parties were being seated inside before me.
The waitress/hostess asked me if I didn't mind waiting a little longer, and I said, "Yeah, it'll be another fifteen minutes before my party shows up." She seemed satisfied with that answer and said she'd get me a table soon.
My guest showed up, ordered a drink from the waiter, and both the waitress and hostess never offered us a table. Basically, I was outside for an hour-and-a-half even though people were streaming out of the bar. We finished our drinks, and I headed inside, only to see a few empty tables. Basically, it was a cluster** of service and seating.
A terrible experience frankly. Someday I will go back and actually review the place...
Read moreThe food and environment was great but the waiter acted more like a bouncer then a waiter. My fiancé realized he was missing his wallet and because it was 9pm they kicked him out because he wouldn’t have an ID to prove his age, even though we were just there for dinner and he wasn’t drinking. Ruined what would have been a really nice date. We are not young by the way, we are in our late 20s. Never have I not given someone a tip but this time I didn’t. I would have liked to speak to the manager but the attitude of the waiter was that he was not afraid to kick me out too for crossing him. Hostile social setting for what otherwise could have been a really nice evening eating. Would not go back if the same waiter is there. It’s a shame because I really liked the place based on my first impression and on the really good food. I respect customer service workers and tried to show I was a gracious and quiet customer even though I strongly disagreed with how the waiter treated us and was frustrated, but his attitude would still not budge and it made for...
Read moreCame in just after 2pm. Service was friendly and being between major meals it was not too busy. Girlfriend and I ordered chicken wings, beer battered fries and the Sheppard's Pie. The pie was a bit spicier than I thought, but it's listed as spicy beef so can't fault them there :-) It was very flavorful and both it and the fries came served hot (temperature wise). Almost was going to let it cool a couple minutes, but it was too good to wait. The wings and the sauces are very good here to. One of the highlights for me was the crispy beer fries and the aioli that comes with it is the same served on their great burger. It goes great with the fries, and I'll be coming back to try the burger & chicken korma. Server checked in with us a few times and only a bit slow returning at the end of the meal but was busy with the till. She was happy to answer questions on some recommended menu items for future visits. This place was recommended by a co-worker and I'm looking forward to my next visit...
