I have walked by this establishment many times but never went inside as I was typically on my way to Ratinaud's to purchase some of Frédéric's famous salmon terrine. My travel typically means tailing after my son who is a world renowned chef / bar man who works and runs all the bars within the second best restaurant in the world called "Centrale" located in Lima, Peru. His gin and tonic bar is considered the best in the world along with his Pisco bar. He travels during his time off to find new gin distillers and often we end up eating and meeting with some of the best chefs in the world along with vinters, organic farmers and hoteliers for potential collaboration. Richard loves Italy, Canary Islands, Spain, and especially Portugal. So we have had our fair share of pizzas around the world and frankly, I think I can match most pizzas makers anywhere using a BRAVA machine but outside of what I make, I believe the margarita pizza I had yesterday (Oct. 1, 2022) was likely the best ever consumed. The decor is very simply but very French and very Venetian and I love it. Like all fit French dudes, the head chef is very easy on the eyes. Service was superb. The recommended wine, Menti Rosé was extraordinary and the first time for me although I have a real liking for rosé and up there on my list is Marival from Provence and the vineyard formerly owned by Angelie Jolie but she sold out her 50% share to a Russian oligarch supposedly a front man for Putin. Her former husband and business partner is not happy and Brad Pitt has launched a massive law suit as the share value has decimated the value of the vineyard although theie rosé is a good as it gets. Another favourite is from Murgo, at the foot of Mt. Etna from Burgo Vineyard run by the Baroness of Burgo and she manages it with her dog along with her nine sons and their families although one six of the families live with her in a huge estate that she built upon the death of the Baron. The Baroness in her nineties and crippled with arthritis recommended putting a sliver of jalapeño pepper into a glass of rosé and it is now the rage in Sicily and Northern Italy and apparently Australia. Lou Pécou should be on the high end of recommended restaurants in Halifax not only for the food but good eye candy as well which helps make the food taste better. Cédric obviously prepares everything with great care and great love for his profession. Food made with love tastes...
Read moreLupecu Pizzeria offers an elevated dining experience that sets it apart from your typical pizza joint. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with an ambiance that hints at the high-quality experience that awaits. The dough, the very foundation of their pizza, is exceptional—far surpassing the average with its perfect texture and flavor. It's clear that Lupecu Pizzeria doesn't compromise on quality, and this extends to their service as well. The wait staff, notably attentive and efficient, enhances the dining experience with their professionalism.
Initially, the restaurant wasn't too crowded, allowing for a more intimate atmosphere. However, as the evening progressed, more patrons filled the space, drawn in by the restaurant's reputation for top-notch fare. While the atmosphere is decent, with nice lighting and good music that contribute to an enjoyable dining environment, there's room for improvement to match the high-end vibe they're aiming for. A few tweaks could elevate the ambiance to match the exceptional quality of the food and service.
The food itself is of high quality, with every ingredient reflecting Lupecu's commitment to excellence. However, while the overall quality of the meal is undoubted, the meat toppings could benefit from an upgrade to match the high standards set by the rest of the menu and justify the price point. Despite this, the dining experience at Lupecu Pizzeria is undoubtedly worth trying. The combination of exquisite dough, great service, and a pleasant dining environment makes it a must-visit for those willing to pay for top-quality pizza. With a few adjustments, particularly in enhancing the atmosphere and upgrading the quality of the meat, Lupecu Pizzeria could truly perfect its high-end...
Read moreTried here for lunch on a sunny Wednesday when the place was just starting its third week in operation. Luckily we found street parking quite easily. Greeted immediately upon entering and took the table closest to the door. My friend was blinded by the sun coming in, so we moved tables, which was no issue bc it wasn't busy. Think I counted seating for about 30 under normal times, so maybe half that during covid. Simple, casual atmosphere. After we placed our order, the owner/manager(?) introduced himself and mentioned that they had not received their morning produce delivery. He had sent out a staff member to buy the necessary arugula for the pizza we ordered (Schpountz I think was the name of it). Advised it would be about a 10 minute wait, which was not a problem for us. It wasn't even a full 10 mins. The pizza came out and was perfect for the two of us to share without being too full, or still hungry afterwards. Thin crust style, very flavorful and fresh. The server offered us free coffee for our "wait" but as mentioned, it was barely a wait. We are looking forward to going back soon and trying other pizzas bc their menu looks great across the board. ...
