My parents reserved a booth seat for us for dinner, so there were four of us....my parents, my husband and I. We were coming from out of town, a 2 1/2 hour drive away, for our annual Christmas dinner. My parents highly recommended that we eat there, as they have been many, many times, being from Georgetown, so we agreed. Again, they reserved a booth seat for us, over a week in advance, for 4 p.m. We arrive and they couldn't honour our reservation, as they didn't have a booth seat for us. We were told that a certain party at one of the booth seats just paid their bill, so they were expected to vacate shortly. The person that worked there, not sure if he was a manager, or staff, said we could wait at the bar, until that booth, or another, becomes available. As I took a seat at the bar, I almost fell over, the bar seat was very uneven and wobbly. He also stated that we would get a free appetized because of the situation. We waited at the bar for about a half hour and decided to just be cordial and not make a fuss and just take a seat at a table, which we did. The first table we sat down at, again, was very wobbly and uneven, so my father suggested we move to another table. That didn't help much because the next table was also wobbly, so we moved again. We finally got a table that was okay in that aspect, but the table was dirty and it wasn't set. My mother ended up washing the table top with a wipe she had in her purse. We had to ask for napkins and cutlery. We sat at that table for an hour before we were even noticed. It was a horrible experience, to say the least. I feel bad for my parents because they really liked this establishment and are very good customers there. Our service was horrible and very, very slow. We had to ask for things that should have normally been included and/or at the table already. My father ordered chicken wings and fries. He received his fries first and they were cold when he got them and then he had to wait a half hour for his chicken wings. Very unpleasant and disappointing. We won't be going back, not for a while, if...

I gave Symposium @ Georgetown another try because they have been always good before my last visit... and also because no one else makes better Eggs Florentine!
Went on a Thursday around 2:00pm and it was fairly quiet with just a few patrons dining in. We were served by Candice; nice lady who took our orders down. As per usual, I had ordered the Eggs Florentine with turkey sausage and my partner the beef burger with fries. The food was much better than what I had posted in my earlier review. The poached eggs were perfect and the home fries went back to what they used to be (golden fried potato chunks).
Service could have been a little more attentive. Our waitress didn't approach us to ask how the food was and forgot a few things like the hot sauce we had asked for.
Overall, the experience was good! Seems like management took into consideration of my feedback from my last visit. The changes are definitely worth it!
I used to rave about Symposium (Georgetown) to everyone, but no longer can. I ordered the Eggs Florentine. The eggs were over-poached and sat on burnt English Muffins which were stiff to the cut! What happened to the Home fries? They used to be perfect golden fried potato chunks but now have been significantly reduced to itty bitty squares of what looked and tasted like fries from McDonald's - it's also difficult to pick these with a fork.
My friend ordered the Chicken + Waffles which were okay, however the coleslaw was warm. Make sure you ask them to cool it for you if you like it cold.
We were only two of eight diners in the restaurant, so more attention and care should have been put in our orders.
Although the food was disappointing, our server Gavin was great, so he gets a star!
Symposium, please go back to the way you used to make your food - it was far better before...
Read moreHad an amazing night last night, June 12 2021 at Symposium - Georgetown location for our one year wedding anniversary. My wife, our 2 friends and I started our night at Kelseys. This was our first mistake. We made a reservation at kelseys and were told the wait was going to be about 20 minutes. We decided to walk into Walmart while we waited. After about 40 minutes waiting for kelseys to call us for a table we went back to see what was taking so long. We were then informed that they no longer were using the list and would have to wait another 20-50 minutes for a table. At this time it was going on 8:00 pm. We then left incredibly disappointed and a little frustrated. We went to Symposium and were greeted by the manager - Gavin. He informed us that a few tables were just about finishing so we would be seated in about 15 minutes. I told Gavin about our night and he did everything possible to make our night better. I can honestly say he went above and beyond the extra mile. Within minutes we were seated and greeted immediately by our server Michelle (who was absolutely wonderful) She was so kind and attentive and created the perfect atmosphere for our guests evening. After we ordered our drinks a second server came to check on us. Not only were we able to get a table right away, but had multiple servers as well as the manager ensuring our night was going well!
The turn around time from when we ordered to when we got the food was extremely short and the food was incredible.
I’d like to thank everyone at symposium but especially Gavin and Michelle for a perfect night! The atmosphere, service, food, and overall experience was fantastic! You have gained a new “regular” customer!
To anyone wanting a night out with amazing food, fantastic atmosphere AND staff and managers who genuinely care about their customers - Georgetown Symposium is the...
