New review: This past Saturday my bestie and I took advantage of the do-over that was offered to us. What a fabulous experience we had! We both tried the Cesar salad and it was so delicious!! Lots of yummy dressing and fresh parm on it. We both really enjoyed it. My bestie decided to try the baby back ribs and the cabbage and apple slaw. She thought they were only going to bring out a half rack but they brought out a whole rack of ribs for her. I'm not even a rib person and they looked very delicious! There was tons of yummy barbecue sauce on the ribs and the slaw was very tasty I tried a little. My bestie said the ribs were very good! Since her seafood boil wasn't the greatest last time they also brought out a seafood boil on the house for her to retry it. She was very impressed it was definitely cooked longer and better with more seasoning and more butter. Lots of leftovers for home. This time around I decided to try the Mac and cheese brisket and boy was it very good! There's pieces of shredded beef brisket in with the macaroni and cheese and some garlic toast to go with it. I also had a Diet Pepsi with lime and it was from the can this time so there was no issues with the taste it was just like a regular Diet Pepsi cola very good! The server was very friendly and attentive just like last time. We got to meet the Manager Mark and he also checked in to make sure we were liking everything. What the owner did goes a long way with me. I'm happy to say I'll be back for more mac and cheese brisket! UPDATE: I spoke with one of the owners today and she addressed my issues respectfully and my bestie and I are getting a do-over soon. I will update my review once we've done the do-over. Original review: Well unfortunately this is not a good review. I'd have to say this was probably the worst experience I've had in a long time. My bestie and I definitely got our hopes up for this place and we were both let down. I thought to try the smoked jerk chicken with the mac and cheese side. My bestie loves seafood so she ordered the seafood boil. Let's start off with hers. The potatoes and sausage were undercooked as well as some of the muscles so my bestie only had a few bites and took the rest home and re-cooked it herself and then enjoyed it. She also noticed how there was zero seasoning whatsoever. Now my smoked jerk chicken was horrible... Even looking at the picture it doesn't even look like chicken. It was severely undercooked it was rubbery and the taste was just off and boy did I pay for it. I had 3 bites and didn't bother to touch the rest of it. I was grossed out. The staff though were very friendly and very accommodating they did not charge me for it which I was grateful but there was something off with that smoked chicken. It should have a nice crispy outside with a juicy inside and the whole thing was like rubber. I love jerk and have had it many times over the years and the taste with this was just off..Since Sunday evening when we visited I've had some severe ibs issues and got sick from only 3 bites... Okay so enough about the nasty smoked chicken I ordered a Diet Pepsi with lime when I got my drink it just tasted like carbonated water I could taste no cola whatsoever. I notified my server and she checked on the pop dispensary and said that it was working fine. I got her to taste it and she did agree that it just tasted like carbonated water. So I switched to a gingerale. It was a bit better but still not enough syrup for my liking. I still drank it and again I wasn't charged for it. The only good thing from this experience was the side of mac and cheese it was very good!. The servers were also extremely friendly and apologetic. I'm planning to call the manager when they open today to notify them of how I was sick after eating just a small portion of that chicken... As much as I would like to give them another shot because the service was good, I can't risk getting sick like that again so I am going to...
Read moreOk, no joke. This was literally one of the best meals I've ever had. My husband and I heard of this place through social media and decided to try it for our 10 year anniversary. Going in we were greated by Nick, who was an excellent, knowledgeable and super friendly host! Being our first time visiting Nick took the time to discuss the menu options, the Tues special (date night board) and was happy to recommend some drinks to us when we had absolutely no idea what to choose from their generous selection of bourbon. We opted to take advantage of the date night board for $60, which was not an easy choice because everything looked delicious and fairly priced. I wish we had taken pictures because it looked picture perfect, but we honestly didn't even give it a second before digging in. The flavors...just WOW!! Strong without being overpowering. We got the brisket, pulled pork, fried chicken, dirty rice, fries, corn bread and mud pie for dessert. I don't know how we did it because there was definitely more than enough food but we managed to finish about 95% of all the food during our sitting. We just didn't want the meal to end. The atmosphere was great with good music, well spaced out seating and cozy lighting. The price was just right too, very reasonable, which is very much appreciated with costs rising these days! With different specials and events going all week long I feel this place has something for everyone and we definitely plan to make this a more regular place for us for date nights or even going out with friends for dinner and drinks. We have also highly recommended this place to family who have celiac due to noticing the amount of gluten free options. Thank you Nick and the cooks at B Side Social for providing us with a date night to remember without breaking the bank!
Absolutely a hidden gem of downtown Hamilton. You cannot go wrong trying this place. I wish I had words to speak more highly of this experience. We will 100% be seeing you again in the...
Read moreMy husband, brother and sister-in-law were heading for a tour with Ghost Walks and needed to fond a restaurant close to thr meet-up point and I can't tell you how happy we're were that we stumbled upon B Side Social! The atmosphere is very cool, with some great omages to music and old adverts for Bourbon. The drinks menu was the first obstacle...how do you choose!? There were so many yummy sounding drinks on there, mixed with a great beer selection, a wine list and whole menu just for the Bourbon! I settled on the Epicberry Mojito and it was DELICIOUS! We also tried their in-house made lemonade, made with Vodka, and another with Bourbon and the Creamsicle. Honestly, we can't decide which of the drinks we rated our favourite. When it came time to order our meals, we all had a few choices on the menu that we were debating on, but decided on the Catfish Po'boy with the Brussel sprouts and bacon, the rack of ribs, pork belly smash burger with fries and gravy and the brisket sandwich with a Caesar salad. To say that these meals lived up to their descriptions is quite the understatement! Everything was just perfect! Perfectly cooked, flavored and matched! To complete our experience, the service was just impeccable. Our server, Nick, was very friendly, helpful with any questions and recognized an error on our order before he even put it on the table, immediately correcting it. I would recommend B Side Social to anyone looking for a great meal and atmosphere and a cool place to hang out(there was a band going to be playing thay eve, ans they do other events like Disney Trivia night, etc!) I look forward to going back and trying more of their menu! Thanks for a great experience and an...
