They have amazing food but im not pleased with the service. I order a roast beef breakfast skillet with over easy eggs and I specifically tell them I want rye bread when i placed my order. I go pick my order up traveling from parkdale and pay 40 dollars plus 5 dollar tip. I get home and realize there is no rye bread so I make my way back to get my rye bread. Then I come back home with the rye bread and then I realize the eggs are well done and not over easy. This is the second time they messed up my order in a 2 week period. Like I said great food but some things you gotta leave in the past. And that's exactly what I'm doing with 50s diner. I'm never ordering from them again. Biggest waste of money I've spent in 2023. Unreal!

I can't fairly rate this place because we didn't actually eat here. We arrived on a warm Saturday evening around 6:30. We walked in to the nearly empty restaurant and waited to be seated. And waited. And waited. While we waited, I noted a few things; the oily, worn floor and the sour odour of old greasy food smells, but mostly the lack of care and attention to details, like the chalkboard 'specials' sign, which was scrawled and worn. A staff member did make eye contact with us at one point, but did not acknowledge our presence. We eventually just left. I suppose that's why the place only had two tables out of fifty occupied at peak dinner hour. Their loss.

I am a sucker for older diners, and this one has that vintage charm to it. It's spacious, but sadly, it works somewhat against them because of how lean they are staffed. We got eggs, steak omlette, and banana pancakes with coffee, and it came up to 52 CAD. The flavor was just ok - the rye bread was hard and dry, and the potatoes were nice and crispy. The pancakes were strangely flakey and came with a container of table syrup - i think part of eating pancakes at a diner is the act of overdosing on table syrup and I felt like I missed out on that opportunity lol I would return to this joint to try out some of their lunch menu for some redemption.

We have been coming to Maria's for well over a decade and sadly this will probably be the last time. We all ordered smoke meat sandwiches and they were served with stale rye bread. STALE! I politely mentioned this to our server and was brought out new bread that was just as stale. I guess they thought by toasting the bread that it would somehow disguise the fact that it was stale. Did they think we would not notice? Do they think that their customers are stupid? A traditional smoke meat sandwich does not have toasted rye bread and the bread should be so fresh that it sticks to the roof of your mouth. We spent over $150 for the new management to just say "sorry". The server was lovely so this is not refelection on her service. She tried her best but I could tell that they were not supported. The first sign that a business is in trouble is when the wait staff are afraid to say anything. It is sad to see a once great local business taken over by people that haven't a clue how to prepare food or treat customers. Judging by some of the more recent reviews, I am not the only one that noticed that the new management is churning out poor quality food with even lower standards. Other servers told me that that the management just simply doesnt care about quality or customer satisfaction so it isnt worth complaining about. It won't be long before this once great family restaurant goes out...

So I came in Saturday may 25 with a friend of mine I told about this place and was super excited for her to come and try the food! We get there set seated then proceeded to wait almost 20 minutes before our server even took our drink order so I had to flag down the hostess to tell her we didn't even have drinks yet then we waited AGAIN for ther server to come and finally I got her attention and she came to the table she said" do you guys have your drink order ready... I then told her we also were ready with our food orders as we had been sitting there for almost 30 minutes at that point. After that she came to my table and told me you guys " ran out of ice tea syrup" and nicely offered me another one but I declined... fast forward we got our food but our table had no cutlery so AGAIN I had to flag down the hostess to get a fork. The sad part is your food is AMAZING but I was very disappointed in the service. At the end of the meal we had to flag our sever down AGAIN to get our bill and we look at it and she charged my friend for my drink I DIDNT GET! The place wasnt super busy either.... I was recommended this place by a friend and I loved it and had amazing service by a different server the first time I came here but I was very disappointed the second time. I normally never leave reviews but I was so upset because I talked this place up big time to her and we both left very...

Unfortunately there’s no option for 0 star but oh well, this place is definitely the worse family dining restaurant in town, the staff is most of the time rude specially the older ladies and a couple of of the young ones with the exception of maybe two young waitresses who are genuinely nice. I come to this place atleast 4 times a month regardless their bad service and their cooks that can’t make a scramble egg instead the serve you an omelet egg. Today was the cherry on top and will not be coming here again got the there 1:23 after calling and telling me that the last order would have to be in by 1:30 and they took 7 mins to come take our order at 1:32 telling us we couldn’t be served because the kitchen was closed after they are the ones who took too long to come take our order then the waitress continued to ask us if we could be done eating paying and leaving by 2 because they lock the doors right at 2 then went to ask the owner if they could take our order and still took another 7 mins and never came back so we left. Mind I came in with 4 kids including a new born and they still treat their clients like that, maybe it is because we are of colour but I never see them treating white folks like this. There were many people still being...
