New and quaint Vietnamese restaurant opened right beside Tahini’s. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn’t busy. I had to order the usual, Beef Noodle Soup (Pho), Spring Rolls (Cha Gio), Crab Rangoons, and my partner had ordered the Vermicelli just to test it out.
Upon receiving our appetizers, the crab rangoons tasted alright but, it was it was still somewhat frozen and cold in the middle. Not sure if it’s supposed to be served this way. Next up, the spring rolls, they tasted good with heavier portion of taro filling but it was crunchy and not greasy/heavy.
Finally the main entrees, pho and vermicelli. Nothing outstanding with the vermicelli, it looked fresh and had a good variety of sides to pair with the meat. I can’t comment on the taste but my partner did not have any complaints (he usually orders vermicelli at Vietnamese restaurants). The pho I had tasted alright. Personally, I didn’t think it was mind-blowingly good. The rare beef and the fatty beef brisket were both tender maintining its bite and had good beef flavour. They use dry noodles which is the normal thing noodles served. My only complaint was the portion size for the cost. Their smallest size is a Medium, for $16, which I think should be a small, that would be the biggest factor as to why I’m giving this restaurant a 3.5 instead of a 4.
I had also ordered their Vietnamese coffee. It came very traditionally, with it piping hot and still dripping into some condense milk, which I appreciated. The flavour was amazing and it’s very strong - I slowly drank it throughout the day. It’s a bit pricey, $6 but I think this one is totally worth it!
The service was good and the place is still clean. But if it were any busier, I think only have 1 person on the floor may have affected the service. I would go back again just to try out their other items on the menu, but definitely not for their pho, especially since there are other options in the area for a better bang...
Read moreI went to Saigon House Restaurant and ordered the brisket with rare beef pho 🥩🍜. I added chicken and a sunny side egg for an extra six dollars, and honestly, it was some of the best pho I’ve had in a long time. This place is a hidden gem 💎.
I also tried the mango smoothie 🥭 and the lychee lime soda 🍹 — both were amazing. The drinks were refreshing and full of flavor. I loved the little touches too, like the pickled garlic 🧄 they brought out, which I had never tried before but absolutely loved. The pickled peppers 🌶️ were super hot but packed with flavor and went perfectly with the pho.
The lady who served us was so kind and welcoming, and she even let us stay after closing so we could finish our meal 🙏.
Overall, everything from the food to the drinks to the service was incredible. I’ll definitely be coming back...
Read moreMy wife and I really enjoyed this spot! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality, and the place smelled incredible and looked nice and clean. We started with the Crispy Krab Rangoon appetizer and loved it. For our mains, we each ordered the Khao Soi – I had it with chicken, and my wife went with tofu – and both were absolutely phenomenal! The portions were generous, and the flavours were spot on.
We did, however, make the mistake of eating the Thai chili pepper that came as a garnish… definitely not recommended (even the server and kitchen staff got a good laugh out of it). Thankfully, we cooled down with a delicious mango smoothie that was as refreshing as it was tasty.
Overall, we highly recommend Saigon House – great food, great service, and a spot we’ll...
