Moxies in Stoney Creek is a good place to visit for a meal if you’re looking at a chain. There are some opportunities for improvement however.
The service is absolutely fantastic. Let’s get that out of the way right now. The management is available to clarify menu items and cater to any allergies for example. The wait staff is also excellent and pleasant. The front hosts which seems like there is 4 at the front are a waste and better to be served in the front of the house. The decor is well done and the place is clean. The females are dressed like it’s a meat market which is a poor example to go by considering it’s not early 2000. They walk around pulling their minis down because they are too short. Get with the times and get better uniforms. Hey I’m fine with the views but this is 2023. Your attire should be something you can do your work in comfortably and properly. It’s literally a tool. Diversity is definitely an issue as well. I don’t ever comment on this but there was many folks that felt the same way.
The food was great and the selection is ok as well. For the price, I would have expected a bit bigger portions especially since they are just burgers and sides. They have ribs , chicken and other things on the menu but seems like most get burgers there. The steak was something I was looking at but the cuts look average and a bit overpriced for those cuts and size.
Overall I think moxies is a good place to visit and is an asset to have this type of chain in Stoney Creek. The beautiful decor needs to be offset with modern thinking and design. Kitchen staff are visible and do a fantastic job. If they removed the moxies brand and made it a local brand with the same staff it would be sold out every night. I look at it to be similar to the keg in some ways except the way the women are portrayed.
I’ll probably visit again within the year. They have improved from a few years ago considerably. The entrance is a bit confusing due to the giant patio as it doesn’t stand out anymore. Lots of families come in as well. Beer menu is a bit slim...
Read moreHonestly should be a 1 star because of how poor the service was, but leaving a 3 star because we come here often and the food is always great and tonight the hostess Jude was the only saving grace for our entire night.
From the initial greet Jude was so sweet and prompt, gave us options with our seating, and offered us a few different types of water. But unfortunately after we were sat it was all downhill from there.
Was probably at least 10 minutes (if not more) before we got greeted by our server.
She never introduced herself by name (didn’t find that out until we got our bill).
We never got checked on for our food for either item (got the whipped feta app and about an hour later ordered the short ribs), and we ended up having to order two drinks at a time because the service was so slow.
It was probably 20-25 minutes wait time for each drink, even though the restaurant and patio was practically empty. And at one point the serve came back asking if we got our drink yet - fully knowing we hadn’t- likely because she forgot to punch it in.
When we finally asked for our bill we were waiting another 15 minutes before we saw the host Jude again come over clearing tables, and that’s when we asked her to please get the bill for us because we had been waiting for so long.
After a few minutes Jude came back out with our bill and machine to bill us out, she apologized profusely for the wait stating that the server was trying to get her closing done and that’s why it was taking long, and as Jude was cashing us out- it was only then that The server (Briana) came over and proceeded to ask us if we needed anything else which at that point was just comical from how little we saw her.
Again, only knew her name was Briana because we had to look at the bill.
We come to moxies often, and will definitely be back, but this is by far the worst service we’ve ever had there- and I cannot preface enough that this hostess should be promoted to a server sooner than later even just solely based on her table side etiquette...
Read moreA Wonderful Small Wedding Dinner Reception at Moxie Restaurant
I recently had the pleasure of hosting my wedding dinner reception at Moxie Restaurant on February 14th, and I can confidently say that the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, the service was impeccable, and every detail was executed flawlessly.
The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my husband, our guests, and I were comfortable and well taken care of throughout the evening. They were attentive, professional, and incredibly friendly, making the night even more enjoyable. The team ensured that every guest was satisfied and that our needs were met with a smile, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We were also fortunate enough to have the private Chedoke room, which made the event feel even more personal and intimate. A special thank you to Nicole and Mallory for their incredible event planning skills—they truly gave me my dream wedding without even seeing my vision board.
One of the highlights of the evening was surprising my husband with a heartfelt video message from family and friends who were far away, which made the night even more special.
The food was outstanding! Each dish was beautifully presented, bursting with flavor, and prepared to perfection. With a great variety of options, there was something for everyone, and every course received rave reviews from our guests.
Overall, Moxie Restaurant provided an unforgettable dining experience for our wedding reception. I’m truly grateful for the impeccable service and delicious meal that made our evening so memorable. I highly recommend Moxie for any occasion—it’s the perfect place for a special event and has now become an extra special place for my husband and me.
Thank you, Moxie, and Sandman Hotel Hamilton, for making our day...
