We've lived in Ingersoll for years and driven by Mango Salad countless times. The outside doesn't seem exceptional, although our neighbours and their kids raved about this place (their kids would eagerly light up if Mango Salad was mentioned). Recently I was looking at Google Maps to see what restaurants were in town and how they were rated. Mango Salad rated incredibly high with over 200 reviews. That speaks volumes...
My sweetheart and I decided to go to Mango Salad for our 7th anniversary this evening and were REALLY pleased. The common advice we got was to call ahead to reserve a table in advance. If you just show up, you may get a table or you may have to wait for awhile.
When we arrived the first impressions were that it was a nice size. Not too large where too many people would be loud and make dinner conversation impossible. Just a nice, cozy size. The colours of the decor are warm. Nice art decorating the walls (although one piece horribly askew that would drive an OCD person crazy with it being on an angle). The room and the tables were all clean. The other people in the restaurant ranged from young friends to families.
The staff were friendly, fantastic, and came by to check on us regularly. My sweetheart and I were debating whether we wanted crunchy (her) or fresh (me) spring rolls. The waitress offered that should bring us a split order of each so that we could both have what we really wanted. That's great customer-oriented service where the staff are empowered to make these things happen.
I had the spicy Thai noodle with beef (attached photo) and my sweetheart had the cashew chicken. I love spicy food and my dish certainly didn't disappoint. The waitress made sure to check as I ordered that I liked spicy food and would be OK with the heat (this could have saved someone who didn't know). The heat in the dish wasn't just a burning/chemical heat, it was a flavourful heat built up with what I assume were chilies. The vegetables in the dish were all fresh and cooked spot on to retain a nice texture (kudos to the kitchen staff). The coconut rice that was ordered by my love was really nice and she enjoyed mixing it with her main dish.
The cost for two people to go out for a nice dinner together was very reasonable. When we asked our waitress if Mango Salad also did take out she was great at not only giving us tips on ordering ahead to have food ready for when we would like it, but also brought us a takeout menu to bring home with us.
Would we go back again? Absolutely! Would we recommend Mango Salad to friends and family? Absolutely! 230 Google reviews with a 4.7 star rating speaks volumes of the wait staff and kitchen staff. If you're reading this, thank you for making such a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience. Whether you live in Ingersoll or would just like to come visit our small town....drop by Mango Salad for lunch or dinner. You'll have a...
Read moreMy family has tipped generously and enjoyed their food for at least 10 years. Our last few experiences have been incredibly disappointing, with our last order and service being completely unacceptable. We walked in and placed an order which we happily waited to receive, we then drove home and realized they forgot an item. When we called to explain the issue, they told us they would give a credit for next time. When we explained that we still need the food they said we could come back and get it but they would not refund it. We drove all the way back and they told us the order was coming and that they would give us a refund for the item. Then a second person tells us “no we just gave you a refund so you don’t get the item now”. We continued to explain that we still need the item and that when a restaurant makes a mistake on your order, they usually fix the issue and comp the item which they made an error on. After quite a bit of back and forth, the lady finally gave us our item. They would not give us any names so we cannot include them in this complaint but we are very upset with the service and will not be returning. Very sad as this was one of our...

Walk into the restaurant... server approaches us and asks “Hi. Do you have a reservation?”
I reply “No?!” I shall note that we’ve been here before not needing a res.
She looks at us, and you can just tell that she’s about to enjoy what she’s about to say... so she smiles nice and big from ear to ear and in a condescending tone replies...
“Oooh... it’s gunna be a ‘good hour’ to an hour and a half...”
She’s still smirking... so my partner and I just walk out.
Typically two people aren’t in need of reservations. Donning etiquette is parties of 4 or more. Furthermore it was a Thursday night. There were two table available. We’re quick eaters ... literally getting the cheque as the food arrives. So shame on your hospitality Mango Salad. Shame shame.
The Banana Leaf in Woodstock is loads better anyway. On our way there instead. Some take out and a movie in store tonight.
It should be noted that the review is of my own personal opinion. Please experience this place for yourself. Just call in advance to wipe the smirk off of...
