Victoria Oriental Restaurant — Restaurant in Kamloops

If I could give "no" stars I probably would. We were recommended to try this restaurant, so in spite of the first impression at the entrance( shabby, cold, and dingy) we gave them the benefit of a doubt. The waiter took my order and proceeded to walk away before taking my husband's order. Our dinner arrived without consideration of my request of the change to my meal. Although the plate was heaping, its was par at best. Only received a fork, no condiments or a knife to cut the huge chicken balls and vegies. Waiter was a ghost after that. The room was filthy. From the ceiling to the floor. Candles and air fresheners filled the corners. (Dont look too far into the kitchen, the doorway was plenty) I think a bucket of soap and bleach water would go along way and staff that can look up from their phones would help as well. Sorry to say....not going back...don't...

Ordered combination C (spring roll, beef & broccoli, chicken fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken), and soy sauce chowmein with 2 spring rolls.

The beef and broccoli plus sweet and sour chicken were a smash hit. Highly recommend, especially the sweet and sour chicken. The chicken fried rice was the only hold back were the egg used in the dish seemed "off" and overpowered the rest of the flavors more than it should of. The spring rolls were too notch and I'd highly recommend them. Each bite had a nice burst a flavor and I wanted to keep eating them.

The chowmein was was great and I would order it again in a heartbeat. The portion side was plentiful and the flavor was delicious and savory.

Price was great and ordering over the phone was easy.

If I was in Kamloops again, this would likely be my go-to place for...

Old owner(we nicknamed her Dragon Lady) many complaints about her customer service - has been gone for months which lightens the mood. Her disturbing loud conversations out of the kitchen are long gone as well. The service is now pleasant and the chinese food is best in Kamloops to our family. It's not a spotless clean NOR recently updated place or it would get a 5. I have been to very few chinese restaurants that have spotless bathrooms etc. I would rate cleanliness slightly above chinese restaurant average- which would be poor compared to a major restaurant chain. Go there...
