moment the dish arrived, the aroma was mouthwatering, filled with the rich scent of roasted spices. The skin of the duck was perfectly crispy, offering a satisfying crunch with every bite. It wasn’t greasy at all, which made it even more enjoyable. The meat underneath was tender and juicy, clearly cooked to perfection. Each slice was easy to cut and had just the right amount of fat to keep it moist without being overwhelming. The flavor profile was well-balanced, with a nice blend of smoky, sweet, and savory notes that lingered pleasantly on the palate. What I appreciated most was the skillful roasting technique — the duck had a beautiful golden-brown color that made it look as good as it tasted. The seasoning was spot-on, complementing the natural flavors of the duck without overpowering them. The accompanying hoisin sauce added a sweet and tangy element that paired perfectly with the richness of the meat. I also liked the side of fresh scallions and cucumber that came with it, which added a refreshing crunch and helped balance the dish. The portion size was generous, making it great for sharing with friends or family. Presentation-wise, the dish was served beautifully on a clean plate with thoughtful garnishes. The staff were helpful in explaining the best way to enjoy the duck, which made the experience even better. I found that the duck stayed flavorful even after a few minutes, showing that it was fresh and well-prepared. Overall, the BBQ duck at Good Buddy is one of the best I’ve had in a long time, combining excellent texture, flavor, and presentation. It’s a must-try if you’re a fan of Chinese BBQ dishes or just looking for something special. The attention to detail in preparation really shows, and it’s clear the chefs take pride in their craft. I’m already planning to go back and order it again. Whether you’re dining in or getting takeout, this BBQ duck won’t disappoint. It’s definitely a highlight on the menu and worth recommending to others.

I’ve been to Good Buddy a few times and generally enjoyed the food, but unfortunately, today’s experience was very disappointing. I ordered the lamb stew, and immediately upon taking a bite, both my boyfriend and I noticed it tasted off — sour in a way that suggested the meat might not be fresh. We politely let the server know, and he took it back to the kitchen. He returned to tell us the chef would remake the dish, which indicated they may have recognized something was wrong. However, I asked if we could switch to another dish instead, as we were concerned the stew might have been made days in advance — which is common for slow-cooked dishes, but only if stored properly. I also asked if the chef had tasted the original stew, but the server said he hadn’t, which was surprising given our concern was about freshness. The remade dish came out shortly after. It was slightly less sour and more heavily salted, but the same unpleasant taste remained. We again let the staff know, but this time were told there was ā€œnothing wrong with itā€ and that ā€œthis is how it’s supposed to taste.ā€ I tried to explain that I’ve had this dish many times, both here and elsewhere, and it should never taste sour or spoiled. Instead of listening to our feedback, the staff continued insisting the dish was fine and freshly made, and even brought back the original stew to prove it wasn’t the same. When I asked if anyone in the kitchen had actually tried the original version, no one answered. At that point, I gave up and said I’d still pay for the dish just to avoid further back and forth. In the end, they removed it from the bill, which we appreciated, but by then we had lost our appetite and chose to leave. It wasn’t about the cost — we came expecting to enjoy a good meal, and left feeling disappointed and unheard. I hope the restaurant takes this as constructive feedback. A simple acknowledgment and willingness to listen would have gone a long way.

Complete trash! Took almost 2 hours to get delivery order. Stopped ordering from here years ago due to poor quality and high price. Decided to try again as kids wanted Chinese. Order came to just shy of $100 for 4 mains and a couple sides. Called back after order not received by 1.5 hrs. was told "It's on the way" (we only live 6 blocks away). Waited another 15 min till the driver arrives in his Lexus SUV. Talked to the driver about the time as it is almost at the 2 hr. mark, and asked about a discount, the driver chuckled and said "I can't do that." Unpacked the order as it is now 8 pm and the kids are hungry and close to bed time. Most of the mains are "sort of" hot, but once we started dishing out we noticed burnt bits of noodles, and soggy vegetables, Green onion cake that is way overdone and DF wantons that are so over cooked they are semi-transparent and breaking apart in the container. I would describe the overall taste like when you burn part of the microwave popcorn and it makes the rest of the bag taste bad. I finished eating over an hour ago and I still have the faint burnt taste in my mouth. It always bothers me when a restaurant knows they are giving you garbage food but they don't do anything about it.

My family and me decided to try a new restaurant and Good Buddy was near by, so we drove over and opened the door - the place was packed ( and that brings a little confidence when trying out a place because clearly they have a good customer return base) and we didn't see a sign saying seat yourself or wait to be seated so we ask a waitress and she seats us immediately at a very large round table with a massive lazy susan in the center. So we take off our jackets and get the two little ones entertained and start chatting amongst ourselves. Twenty minutes go by ( only felt like ten) and no one came by to ask us for a drink or anything about a menu so I look at the cashier and smile and she immediately comes over and says she will see where our orders at and moves towards the kitchen area. My wife and I laugh because we haven't ordered yet let alone got a menu at this point ( not going to lie at this point my first impression of the place was crumbling but boy was I about to be impressed). When the young lady talks about our group to the staff in the back about a minute later 5 people come over and apologize for not getting to us sooner and start being tea, menu's, dishes and amazing service. We get a couple cans of pop for us and start to look over the menu ( please be aware that I'm a white boy and I only read / understand the English language and my wife would reply to this as sometimes) they are in {I'm guessing} Chinese with English below but all the headers are in Chinese so I'm not to sure which goes with what, so our group decides on the six-man meal from one of the three different menus and are now determined what we want to get with it, took us about another 20 minutes and we were finally good to go and order ( or so we thought). The waitress comes by and we begin to describe our list of things to get and are informed that we need to pick from a certain page for this group order ( feeling silly now) we quickly rearrange our choices and we gets everyone's meals and brings more tea ( which was delicious). Not more than ten minutes later our food starts to show up and OH MY GOSH my eyes little up like a kitten giving sad eyes. Each plate was a platter and very full I'll add so much more than I or my family was expecting, and it was a steam of dishes each one looking better than the last ( yes I was very hungry by this point). We get our plates made up and eat them clean and go try another platter of food on the table. Each bite was delicious and so flavourful and so very good. The price for the amount of food we received was minimal and it ALL TASTES GOOD.

Our trip started out a bit rough trying out this place but I definitely will be going back and trying something new - and a thank you to the staff at Good Buddy if they read this - for once noticing the error of not serving us how quickly they...

This was by for the worst customer service experience of my life. I've heard alot of good things about good buddy & how great the food is however this specific location was horrendous. So unfortunate as the sherwood park location was the complete opposite experience.

We had a family of 20 come to this location and we waiting over 30mins for someone to take our drink orders. Even after getting up and going to the front to ask twice for someone to come take our order... There was tables that came in far after we did and they had been served drinks & dinner and left the restraunt before we even got our food orders taken. We were given only 2 menus (1/table of 10ppl) for the entire 20 people that we had. We ended up putting both menus on one table so they could decide their orders before passing them off to the other table. Well when the server came by to take our orders she was annoyed that both menus were on one table and came and grabbed the menu from my aunt whom had it opened it front of her as she was litterally in the middle of reading it still. The server snatched it and used it as support under her paper to write down our orders like wth !

Then when our food was brought out my soup had a hair in it which honestly was the least of my worries considering everything else. At one point we ordered a glass of wine and I watched her standing in the back (our tables were right by the kitchen) pour this wine into the cup look at it a few times even smelt it. You could tell she was kinda wondering like why does this wine look like this but despite that she still decided to take this glass of wine out to the table and it was disgusting it was red wine but it was thick and litterally brown I couldn't believe she actually brought this out when she clearly noticed or was not okay when she poured it. We also had to get up and ask numerous times throughout our time there for someone to come get our drink orders šŸ™„

Our bill total came to about 800$ and I was not pleased that we spent so much for the worst service I have ever had. The only good thing I can say about that experience was that the rest of the food was decent nothing special but it was good. Other then that I will not be going back to this location ever again. Sherwoodpark is where...

I never write bad reviews especially in today's world as it affects business, but in this situation I would have them zero stars if I can. We do go to good buddy quite often and their food taste is decreasing significantly from the previous years. We took our parents out for dinner yesterday who are visiting from out of country. We ordered a bunch of stuff, a lot if which tasted so different (no flavour) but it was okay, we managed. They brought out the food and accidentally mixed ginger chicken with ginger beef (which they told us is ginger chicken while serving). We are Hindus and we don't eat beef for religious purposes. My dad and I had took couple bites already when the lady from the kitchen came out running and quickly took it away saying its ginger beef. We lost our appetite, and were quite upset especially my dad. We have never had beef before. I went upfront and told the manager, I told him that my dad is quite upset. He casually told me it's ok since you have eaten it already so its already done. I said it's not OK, we don't eat beef due to religious purposes. He said what do you want me to do. He was so casual about it and did not apologize at all, and told me its done what can you do. He was extremely disrespectful in understanding the severity of this matter. . I came back to the table and no one was in mood to eat at that point. He came a few minutes later and instead of apologizing, he made excuses saying it was pork not beef ( 2 of the staff confirmed that it was beef). My husband was quite upset with him as the manager said it's no problem, you guys will be fine. Like really buddy, you realize you are disrespecting someone's religion and insisted of apologizing you are making excuses, and making us feel bad about it. We packed our food and left. Not going to this restaurant again. I understand if there was a mistake betweenthe dishes. Atleast the manager should have made some effort to apologize rather than making us feel like we did something wrong and so casually tells us its no big deal.He took off 3 drinks from our bill. It was an...
