I was not pleased with this store's covid safety. I just visited for the first time and am not sure I will be back in future.
For one, there was a customer flagrantly walking around the store not wearing a mask. I saw this man interact with several employees, asking for something to be gotten from the stock room and none of them mentioned his lack of a mask. I did not intervene because I don't think it's fair for another customer to put a member of the floor staff in that position on the spot, but I'm mentioning it here because this must not be allowed to happen in future. A manager should have been alerted of this man's presence immediately and made to make him leave the store. However, there was no staff member at the store entrance keeping count of customers or advising customers of covid regulations, so this man obviously walked into the store without issue. This is the only store in town I've been to recently without somebody at the door for this purpose. I absolutely understand staff's hesitance to publicly call out a customer for this behaviour, but they should have gone to a superior to have them deal with it, that's what managers are for. Besides this I also saw several members of staff wearing their masks improperly, be it under their nose of under their chin, and I even saw one staff member wipe their nose before touching products on the shelf. Just unacceptable. The selection and prices are fine, but I won't be putting myself at risk to visit this store when No Frills and Superstore are far better at enforcing important safety...
Read moreI overall have a good experience in this store. Prices are reasonable. Only issue I have is some of the cashiers are pushy to get you to fill your bags to get the food off the conveyor belt. Today was a day where shopping in the produce section was a challenge. I wanted to buy mini cucumbers. When I saw them I was grossed out. Whoever rotated the mini cucumbers need a crash course on food safety. They placed all the new ones on the bottom and lined the old rotted ones on the side and on top. One package had a cucumber growing mold all up the side of it. I looked for a produce attendant but no one was around. I processed to talk to a meat attendant. She said that wasn’t good but didn’t look for a produce person or call someone. She seemed not to concern to have someone remove them. I went up front a an asked a cashier to talk to a manager. He said she was in the back. I explained the situation. I heard him call someone back to produce. I came back 10 minutes later and asked a person if they are being removed. She said someone was coming to remove. When I was about to go and pay for my groceries I went back. They were removed. Thankfully. No one wants or will buy those rotten mini cucumbers. Maybe Owner Leigh Anne you should retrain your produce staff on proper food handling and safety or hire a born Canadian who knows what rotten and moldy food looks like . I get LMIA staff cheaper and if your saving money on staff but don’t be cheap on the produce. I don’t expect a call back from my voicemail but I would like better...
Read moreIt’s obvious that on the weekends, they are not adequately staffed to handle the volume of people checking out. Only two staffed checkout stands were open and only three out of the four self checkouts were open. While standing at the self checkout, every single one of them at one point indicated that a staff member needed to check for an unexpected item in the bagging area. Despite doing everything in order and making every attempt to not have this message pop up, it did anyways. While this message was displayed, putting a complete stop to people checking out, the lineup volume only increased until staffed finally made their way over after almost six minutes of standing there waiting. In addition, a good portion of the sale items were no longer in stock. Management or the owners of this location need to take into account that Safeway is right across the street, Save On Foods is just down the road, and No Frills is only a short drive away. Out of all of these grocery options, I will now hesitate to do any shopping there given the other choices available. Almost every time I’ve decided to shop at Freshco, I’ve regretted the experience afterwards. I could get into a whole complaint about the current cost of groceries and the remarkable profits these companies are making…maybe use some of those record profits to adequately staff your location and support your employees a...
