I want to give a better rating, because I enjoyed the food I got. The first time I went I had the salmon toast and it was good, tasted great. Came a second time and... well, got the James, good taste however there was a long hair inside :(. The flies are atrocious, fighting them off my food and having them land all over me isn't fun. Someone who came with me, their food was cold and brought out minutes after ours (roughly 10 mins). I want to chalk up the unfriendliness to a bad day, because it wasn't as bad the first time I went. I'm so glad that On The Locks is serving breakfast again! They are under new ownership now, so different decor and menu. Classic breakfast food offerings. I got the grilled cheese with bacon and upgraded the home fries to add hollandaise, cheese, and onion, which was a good call. I really enjoyed the grilled cheese, but the home fries were a little hard - the hollandaise helped. I believe the serving staff has changed as well and was very friendly and attending. Good local diner, with friendly and attentive service. We tried the "Philly" Poutine (reg size), the fries were done to perfection, well done and crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside. The toppings were tasty with a bit of heat and the overall portion was well worth the price. Came back two days later to try the "Original" Poutine, again the fries were superb. The only issue I had was the gravy, I wish they would make their own from scratch (from turkey or beef drippings), this is not to say that it is bad just that it would elevate the dish to the level it has the potential to be.
