Signature Restaurant — Restaurant in Kawartha Lakes

I have been a regular at this small town cafe style restaurant for over twenty years. It's always been great in every way. Reading a couple of bad reviews here i just can't agree with them at all. This is one of the best of the old fashioned Mom and Pop style places. Over time they've dome to know what i like and how i like it and it's nice the way that gives us the well acquainted Howdy do I'm back again kind of friendly, informal feeling that's so nice and welcoming in a small town place. The food is always so good and so quick. Old fashioned style of everything with a home made feel to it. Great home made gravy on the fries etc, Always little extras like a wee salad and hot buns. Large portions of everything. and often supper comes with a free desert of locally made pies and cakes. I have never been a fan of liver and onions but sometimes in the cold old winter the way they do it smothered in home cooked onions and their own sauce is just what the doctor ordered. Normally we eat breakfast at Texas Burger on our way to the cottage. However, TB currently isn’t serving breakfast due to Covid. So we decided to try Signature Restaurant. HUGE MISTAKE. This place is a total dive. It’s dark and uninviting.

Our table was filthy and there was a dirty napkin from the previous customer. When I asked the hostess to wipe the table clean, she ignored my request and began to set the table. I asked her to remove the dirty napkin and she looked at me like I had ten heads and wanted one of us to pass her someone’s filthy napkin.

Her poor attitude coupled with the fact that she did not care to do the very basic requirement of wiping the table, especially when restaurants have just reopened post-covid, was enough to have us running for the door.

To top off our experience, as we were leaving, the hostess commented aloud to other dining customers that we were ignorant!!

We do not recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in a pleasant dining experience. Would rate zero stars if possible. Visited on July 23, 2021...

Went here because we didint know they changed owners, I orders homefries and hollandaise sauce it took them around 4 minutes to realize I wanted that and didint want homefries and sausage. They brought out my food after 10 minutes points to them for being fast but they gave me mayonnaise instead of hollandaise, when I asked the waitress where the hollandaise was she said it was on my plate. It was not hollandaise. The homefries tasted like they were microwaved. my friend ordered the three egg breakfast and got two eggs, bacon,bread and home fries she says the bread was dry and crumbier then usual and the homefries were plain out disgusting. We didint have problems with the club sandwiches. Overall will not be coming here again, do not recommend unless your looking for something cheap and bad quality instead of expensive and...
