Basha Donair & Shawarma Kelowna — Restaurant in Kelowna

I have celiac and didn’t plan to order but who I assume is the owner?/cook shared the chicken shawarma is gluten free. Then I received my meal with several pieces of pita on top, he assured me he understood and would remake it. I noticed that they used the same gloves to grab for every ingredient and dropped several in other containers, for example gluten-containing meat in the vegetables. He also cooked my ‘gluten free’ chicken meat on the same grill as all the containing meat. When I declined the remake because it was all clearly contaminated, he argued at length that it was all gluten safe and the contamination I clearly saw didn’t exist, I mentioned the shared grill and he claimed it was fine because the grill was hot. He was incredibly rude, argumentative and clearly has zero knowledge of gluten free preparation. They also messed up the rest of the order and then proceeded to serve their regular before fixing our order. The place is slow, way overpriced and has poor customer service. He then refunded me with cash and failed to refund me the tax I paid. Don’t go here especially if you have celiac. Glad I went with my gut as I’m sure my gut would have been sick after eating here. I have never been dissatisfied with the food and service from Basha. My family and I are always amazed that we can taste the love in every bite, but never surprised by it.

The taxi fries are a favorite and a must for every order. The blend between sweet and savory with the toppings (always cooked to perfection) are the ultimate comfort food!! We are working our way through the menu as our tastes shift and are currently loving the sasquach and the Ashley hangover. If you're craving protein, look no further. Don't be afraid to try extra toppings! The pickles are an absolute delight and go well with most everything to add that extra 'zing' you may be craving.

Although we come for the food, my heart is always warmed when I arrive. Not only are the staff friendly to me on a customer service front, by far the biggest draw to the establishment is how the staff are treated. I have only ever heard words of affirmation and appreciation directed to the staff. Speaking as a working class citizen, I cannot express my utmost gratitude for this alone.

Oh my! I was recommended to try this donair place by a friend, and was expecting something akin to subcity domain, Quiznos etc. BOY was I wrong! This is a MUST eat.

Immediately upon entering the establishment I was greeted by both the owner and multiple staff members. Cheerful smiles all around, and the owner explained to me how the menu works and his recommendations. The aroma wafting through the air was incredible, and just made my mouth water. I decided on my donair (Jimmy the Greek) and they quickly got to work making a work of art in a pita. It probably took longer for me to decide than it took for them to shave the 100% beef and create my donair.

I took my order to go, and only managed to chow down half an hour later - I was hoping my donair would still be good, and it didn't let me down. This donair is PACKED with a very generous helping, was seasoned amazingly, and I wasn't able to finish even half. Guess I have an amazing dinner ahead of me too!
