Illichmann's Meats, Sausages & Gourmet Foods — Restaurant in Kelowna

After being a customer for at least 15 years, Feb 11 held the only bad experience we have ever had and it made me feel enough anger and disappointment to write about it. My husband and I wanted to buy just over $50.00 of wonderful wine and the thin/tall/overly tanned looking woman who is usually there was trying to ring it in but could not find one of the bottles in the computer. It was a little busy but she made us wait at least 5-10 minutes while she mucked around in the computer looking for it, the other two staff(oriental lady and tall caucasian man) also tried to ring in sales around us while trying to help her find it. She never made any apologies and finally gave it up to the tall gentleman after accidentally erasing our entire sale. We were patient but I started to worry about my getting to work on time, as she is walking away I gently asked what their time was and she laughingly stated "it's time to take your money!" Instantly I was offended at her lack of appreciation for our time and patience waiting and quietly asked my husband if we could just leave but he wanted to proceed with the sale as the tall gentleman was still trying his best. Illichmann's must get enough business now to treat regular customers this way, this woman recognizes me in there frequently over the years and could have found a way to properly take our money in a proper amount of time. It makes me a little sad to feel the need to write about something negative instead of about all the positives but now we have been made to feel as though you would never know the difference without this letter as you clearly have enough business to promote such an attitude as the one this woman had. Fantastic! One stop shopping. Best place to buy meat and deli items as well as hard to find European goodies. The service is always fantastic. Sometimes there's a bit of a line up but it moves quickly. Always my go-to place for stew beef and Ukrainian ham sausage. The lunch counter has lots of wonderful desserts and the sandwiches can't be beat. Also a great selection of soups and hot dishes for lunch on the go. Ample parking. My family has shopped here since the 80's and as a kid I loved all the candy and chocolates you didn't see anywhere else. Some of the staff could use a little more knowledge on wine parings but they aren't a wine shop, I think the wine is just a convenience item, so I guess you can't really expect the staff to be seasoned sommeliers. They have a large selection of products and the staff are very friendly. My favourite things from here are the premade sandwiches because they’re delicious and big! I like the Chicken sandwich and my husband likes the Beef. I add an extra 100g of meat and use 1 sandwich for 2 meals because I need the added protein (and I want less bread in 1 sitting).

I also really like their selection of butcher & deli meats, as well as their European chocolates. They sell fresh bread there, premade salads, baked goods (pretzels, sweets, etc), jars of sauces & pickled veggies and more!
