The location is absolutely beautiful. Our waitress was kind and funny.. That said we ordered Tacos Pastore, the Bread with Olive add Tapenade plate and Halibut Ceviche. The Tacos Pastore were quite greasy and the pineapple Pico de Gallo was only made with pineapple and onion (no peppers, cilantro or fresh jalapenos), and it was clearly old as the pineapple was mushy and grey. The Olive and Tapenade plate came with rolls of bread and bread sticks. The breadsticks were hard and crispy as they should be but the roles were stale. The best thing on that plate was definitely the warmed olives which were delicious. The Ceviche was not good at all. The fish clearly wasn't cut properly because if you picked up one piece of fish it would string along another. It tasted 'fishy' if you understand what I mean, which is unusual because Halibut is usually a very clean light tasting fish. Also the only thing in the ceviche was little pieces of onion and some tomato and the Tomato was mushy like it was days old. The chips that came with the ceviche were not made in house and were clearly store bought which isn't bad but you should know. I took my visiting parents to this restaurant and we did enjoy the view. My father also enjoyed a cup of cappuccino which apparently is supposed to be made by the waitress but she told us in a joking manner that she's not a good Barista and that we were very lucky that we had the bartender there to do it for her. We also truly enjoyed our time and conversation on the beautiful patio. If you're going to go to this restaurant and try these three things I would not recommend but again the ambience...
Read moreWe were staying at the El Dorado and ate at Maestro's one evening of our stay. The patio and views were 10/10 but the service was awful. Most of the staff are very young and inexperienced and they don't seem to have had much training in customer service. We were there for oyster night and my father-in-law (who is from the east coast and LOVES oysters) ordered 10 east coast and 5 west coast oysters for the table. When they arrived he realized they had mixed up the east coast and west coast (he could tell by the shell). When he pointed out the error to our server Lily she insisted he was wrong and became increasingly aggressive and combative about it. My father-in-law calmly tried to explain the difference in the shells to her but she just got more and more upset. I understand that she may have been having a bad day but her behaviour was shocking. The manager, Lisa, came over and proceeded to make the situation even worse. It was honestly so embarrassing. Even the server who was shucking the oysters admitted he had made a mistake but Lily and Lisa doubled down and acted appallingly. The food was hit and miss - half of our party of 12 enjoyed their meal and half found the food bland but the service was so terrible we didn't return for the rest...
Read moreI am giving a low rating due to the Manager of this establishment, who I believe treated us badly due to racial bias. We came in as a group for dinner, as we were being seated, the Manager made a rude comment to one of the guests. During dinner, one person from the group had an allergic reaction to something they ate. We mentioned the situation to the waiter, and he was very kind, considerate, and removed the meal from our table immediately. A short time later, the Manager appeared at our table, even though no one asked to speak to her. She stood over us, and began to aggressively question us about the situation, what we ordered, how we ordered...etc. She never once asked if the person who experienced the allergic reaction was okay. Instead of her showing concern, I felt like we were being interrogated! I kindly adived her that the allergic reaction was no one's fault and we weren't looking for anything from the restaurant. Even after saying this, she continued to speak to us in a condescending and accusatory tone. She completely ruined the night for us with this unnecessary interaction! I strongly believe she did this because we were a group of people of colour, she simply didn't want us in her restaurant from...
