The family came to this beach because we had about an hour and a half to kill. There is paid parking right beside but you can also find some free parking across the street along some side streets. If you have lots of gear or small children I would recommend using the paid parking.
There are a lot of amenities close by like washrooms with separate change areas, restaurants, and ice cream across the street to name a few. There are also separate areas off the beach for volleyball and other activities, plenty of greenspace for picnics and such. As well, you can rent paddle boats and other water craft.
The beach itself is great with areas for sun and shade. There is also a small playground on the beach. There are 2 zip lines; one along the sand and one off the pier into the water. The water is very shallow and goes quite a ways. As a result, the waves created by boats passing doesn't effect as much so great for kids. There is also a shower area for body and feet which is great to wash off the sand.
Even though we were there for a short time we enjoyed our time there and liked all the...
Read moreThis is a very clean, wide stretch of sand with good playground equipment including two zip lines: a short one on the sand and one that takes you straight into the lake. It can get busy later in the afternoon, but get here before lunch and you have lots of choices for location. There is a fair mix of families and grown ups here, more adults than kids compared to Rotary Beach, but lots of room for all the activities. Not as much interaction with watercraft here: Rotary trends to have a lot of Stand up paddleboards and kayaks and such that share the water, and the downtown park seems to be very busy with powered watercraft but here the water is shallow quite far out and people seem to win the battle for space. There is an iconic concession stand here that is shaped like an apple to get ice cream and other snacks, but you are also within walking distance of a lot of other options. Definitely recommended. I felt like this was the most "fun" beach in the area because of how accessible the water area was. No sharp rocks like Rotary, and no step drop off like the...
Read moreFun beach for all ages! This beach is nice and shallow for young kids, it's got a really fun playground for older kids, it had beautiful old trees for shade, tables for picnics and nice thick grass and volleyball courts. This beach really has it all.
You can rent fun water equipment on the beach and there is also a concession. As a local, I bring my own food cause I find the concession expensive but when you're visiting on vacation it's nice for the convenience.
There is parking close by but even that fills up in the summer so plan ahead to get to the beach early. There is a really nice sidewalk that connects many of Kelowna's beaches. You can walk it and end up at Rotary Beach and then eventually The Eldorado and Manteo resorts for dinner. Easy to explore this beautiful city...
