We thought we'd try out the new place for a brunch type meal Our server was Jesse. We ordered a coffee & banana/strawberry smoothy for my wife. Coffee was average. The smoothy was rather flat/boring. Really had no difinative.taste. We ordered regular eggs Benny & pancakes w fruit on top When it was delivered a customer who was leaving warned us to get a steak knife to cut it! So we requested a new knife because sure enough it was very grainy. Same with the pancakes!!Really hard to cut. They also appeared to be brown like whole wheat bread. I expected fluffy pancakes similar to what one might see at other restaurants. There was no real description on the menu. Also the syrup was rather tasteless The server checked in & topped up coffee & I commented how tough the pancakes were. My wife also commented as. She had asked for additional cheese to be drizzled on the home fried potatoes ($2additional charge) There was barely any put on the potatoes He replied "I will tell the cook. We just opened"!! So we ate as much as we wanted leaving well over 1/2 on each plate. When it came time to settle the billing, we had a total of close to $40.00 plus!!We reiterated about how displeased we were with the overall experience. Jesse replied "I'll tell the Cook's but we just opened " There was NO offer to speak to a manager or perhaps the cook who appears to carry a lot of weight there? We paid the $40 plus bill (from experience this would be $30-35 elsewhere I left a minimal tip. It was our 1st time there and from all indications most likely our last.Dont usually complain a whole lot but seeing as how they "JUST OPENED"felt it necessary to relate the whole experience Will comment the washrooms are great Large &easy to use with my wife's wheelchair VERY clean . New Smitty's opening at Ramada @end if Jan. Going to give them...
Read moreA nice breakfast had today at Kelowna's Pur & Simple on Banks. One of the best breakfast option places here. A tad pricey though overall and they charge an extra full dollar not told to you if you just order sourdough instead of white bread. The manager took it off though but just to tell guests in advance really helps. It really is weird to charge extra for just bread! Was a very first for me. If not that minor mishap then this would have landed 5 stars to report. Aug 20th.
Below is from last Nov...
3 of 5 stars...(our Nov 23rd experience there) Why just the 3???...prices are quite high compared to Smitty's and say even White Spot for just a regular breakfast! Service lacked a bit as I had to get server's attention a few times on refills etc and instead of just seeing someone come by and not up by kitchen talking to other staff. Food was good quality though but yes pricey big time compared to other sources here in Kelowna. Even with inflation factored in. Had music on at least and some songs were ok. Tv was on yes but not even sports highlights, just some story on some athlete which was useless to watch without sound! The small simple details I do like out there and we are not all just on our cell phones 24/7! IF they are to have a menu to be viewed by cell phone...why not have prices listed too then! Then less asking our server and less time wasting on asking on prices, yes? That made least sense to me. ): 3 of 5 stars anyways but I like to review places at least 4 or even...
Read moreWe went here excited for a breakfast with my husband and the other gentleman in the group knowing what they wanted to order (Korean Sunrise). When the plates arrived the waitress had put in Ray's extravaganza. The waitress didn't seem keen to put in the correct order and told us they were essentially the same thing. I asked her if we could have sides of kimchi and gochujang to try and salvage the order since it wasn't what they had ordered (these things happen and we've worked in the service industry and get it). Throughout the course of the meal the service was poor. Never once did we get our waters refilled and my smoothie was undrinkable (not sure if someone spilt too much syrup in it?), We had to ask to have the coffees refilled and she never asked if we were satisfied with our meals. When the bill came we were charged extra for the gochujang and the kimchi per each additional person. Being shocked by this I clarified that we had spared the kitchen from remaking the two meals and that it had been her mistake. She said it was the kitchen's decision and not hers. I was shocked and it was the first time I didn't tip someone. I'm sure the restaurant is great and it's an issue with this one sever, but the experience left the group saying no one would return to...
