We came to Joey’s hoping to enjoy a relaxed evening over a nice meal and a bottle of wine. Upon arrival, we were met with two hostesses standing with their backs to us - one on the phone, the other on her iPad - without so much as a greeting. Eventually, a third hostess arrived, engaged in a casual conversation with the others, then finally acknowledged us with a smile and seated us.
Our server came shortly after to take our drink, appetizer, and main course orders. To our surprise, within just 8 to 10 minutes, everything - drinks, appetizers, and mains - was brought out at once. So much for taking our time and enjoying the evening - it felt like we were being rushed from the moment we sat down.
I had ordered the cod, which arrived without the sauce it was meant to come with. Since our server hadn’t returned to check on us, I flagged down another server and politely asked for the sauce. She said she’d take care of it, but despite walking past our table multiple times, it never came.
Eventually, our original server reappeared and asked my husband if she could clear his plate - even though he hadn’t finished his fries. She then turned to me and said she’d take mine as well. I still had half my food left because I was waiting for the sauce. I mentioned this, and she apologized, then took the plate anyway. A few minutes later, she returned with a plate of chocolate brownies and said it was to make up for the missing sauce (I don’t eat chocolate). Moments after that, she dropped off the bill along with a $20 gift card, saying it was for our next visit.
We left no tip because, frankly, the service did not earn one. I also declined the gift card, as my husband and I agreed we wouldn’t return. I’ve visited this restaurant many times over the years and have always enjoyed great food and service - until now. With the cost of dining out these days, places that rush your meal and provide inattentive service don’t deserve our...
Read moreHi Joey’s Kelowna team,
I just wanted to share some gentle feedback from our visit yesterday. I’ve been a long-time fan of your delicious food and friendly service, and we usually love dining at your location.
We decided to skip cooking and take our daughters out for steaks. When we arrived around 5:30 PM, the restaurant was relatively empty, but there was a bit of a bottleneck at the front. We were third in line, and it took about 10 minutes to be seated as each guest had to be added to a waitlist with phone numbers entered into an iPad—even though they were seated immediately after. It felt a little awkward and unnecessary given how quiet it was.
Once we were seated with Bubbles (always a nice touch!) on the patio, which was medium busy, we were told who our server would be but didn’t see anyone for about 10–12 minutes. We were hoping to catch the happy hour window and managed to get our order in just as the clock turned to 6 PM. The appetizers were absolutely delicious—especially the lettuce wraps which might just be the best I’ve ever had!
Dinner followed with steaks and a burger for my husband. He did have some feedback about the burger, which we’ve already shared with the manager. Throughout the meal, though, the overall flow of service felt off—no one came by to refill water, and we had to ask three times (eventually waving someone down) just to get a pop refill. On a hot day, it would’ve been great to have someone roaming with water refills or just checking in more regularly.
It seems like there might be a few growing pains or kinks in the system that could use some attention. We truly love Joey’s and want to see it continue to thrive, so we hope this feedback is helpful.
Thanks again for the great food and for taking the time to read...
Read moreI usually never write reviews, and it's been about a month since my visit here. I was visiting Kelowna for the weekend and my husband and I decided to go out to dinner. We were so hungry and at that point, we didn't even care where we ate. we had checked on Google pretty briefly and Joey's seemed to have a pretty good reviews. So, that's where we went.
Upon arrival, the atmosphere was charming. definitely a lot nicer than we thought it would be and we showed up a little underdressed, which I felt terribly horrible for.. but the staff was still incredibly friendly and we appreciated the complementary champagne.
I ordered the herb crush salmon, and oh my god. I told our server that it was absolutely the best salmon dish I have ever had. Honestly, it was the best dish I've ever had, period! Like I said before, it's been a month and I still think about it constantly. The flavor was incredible. The salmon was cooked perfectly. I was absolutely BLOWN away and I cannot say enough good things about it. My husband ordered a steak, of which I forget what exact menu item it was. It was really good as well, but that herb crush salmon was absolutely incredible. Even just thinking about it as I write this... I'm ready to hop in my car and make the 8-hour drive right now 🤤🤤
I can never decide when it comes to alcoholic beverages, so I asked our server for some recommendations. He pointed out a few that were on the menu, but also suggested that if I explain my taste, the bartender could probably make something custom that I would enjoy. And he did! I can't recall exactly what it was, but it paired so well with the salmon dish.
I seriously cannot wait to go back. Definitely one of the best dining experiences, atmospheres, and meals I...
