Came to the Kanata on a family holiday. The light blue slide was down and has been for months we were told when we enquired. The hot tub was also down. The pool area itself was kinda lack lustre. There was a bandaid the first night we were there just floating around. Okay but not great.
Our room Was comfortable, beds nice and comfy but the room was not clean. Upon check in there were long black hairs on the bathroom floor, an open mouthwash and only 2 towels for a party of 4. We asked for housekeeping to clean the floor the following day as the kids were going to bed. Reminded them in the morning and the room wasn't touched. Were also told house keeping comes every 2 days so left it as it was late and bedtime for the kids and reminded again in the morning thst we checked in 2 days ago and there was black hair all over the floor of our bathroom. Went our for the day and returned and again nothing was done! Went down and spoke to the front desk and this was the first time someone apologized for the hair and there was a very kind man that offered to come up and immediately clean. It was bedtime but our oldest went down to the pool with dad and our toddler rode the trolly back and forth in the hall while he did a very thorough clean. He even vacuumed!
2 days later on our regular cleaning schedule as per housekeeping nothing was done. Came back to the same wet towels, unmade beds, full garages. Went down and asked "How often are rooms cleaned" another really helpful man told me that rule now is soft clean (garages and towels) every 2 days and vacuum and beds every 6... seriously there isn't even a duvet cover so the sheets shift and get all tangled but beds don't get touched for 6 days? Ick. People aren't fixing those sheets themselves I bet daily so they are touching people and not clean. Morning again asked for our room to be cleaned they came, threw towels on the rack and emptied the bathroom garbage. Next day (day 6) returned to everything cleaned... only day in our 6 night stay that the room was cleaned without being asked and even with asking it wasn't clean.
Booked through expedia so helpful man #2 was not able to issue a refund for 1 night stay... which was just shy of $300.
Emailed the hotel as he asked and they offered a $200 credit. That was 5 days ago and I have not heard back. It took them about 5 days to reply the first time too.
Was told by a staff member that they switched ownership in June and there are only 4 employees left that were there before and customer service and reviews have gone down drastically. I believe it!
Breakfast was decent. Yogurt, cereal, eggs, omelets 2 of the days, sausage patties, bagels, toast,...

I booked this hotel for the may long weekend based on the good reviews it got on here. I’ll preface this by saying I don’t expect much from a 3* stay - just to be quiet and comfortable. When I arrived at 930PM the lobby was filled with people and children were prank calling the front desk non stop. The front desk lady was quite flustered (reasonably so). The breakfast area and lobby were filthy. Once I got into my room I was immediately hit by a stench I can only describe as rancid milk and old socks. It was only in the room too not the hallway. The door lock didn’t work. The room was quite dated and not clean. This hotel is right beside a major highway in Kelowna and it’s quite loud. Bring earplugs if you insist on staying here. There was children playing in the hallway at 10PM… I ended up leaving at 1030PM after having travelled all day, as the room was not clean and I couldn’t get over the smell. It just felt disgusting. This stay is 200$/night! I ended up finding a room at the holiday express across the street for the same price and it was CLEAN, comfortable and updated.
I spent an hour the next morning trying to get a refund for at least the second night and it was like pulling teeth. The manager insisted her colleague checked the room after I left and it was clean. I’m sorry but did she really think I left at 1030PM after having been up since 330AM just for fun? She argued I didn’t give the chance for them to rectify the situation - no… why would I? The entire place is disgusting, not just my room…. I was tired and just wanted to go to sleep. The last thing I wanted to do was scramble to find alternate accommodations on a long weekend.
This place is a dump, the manager is rude and unfriendly and the head office that runs this place should have a hard look at what they’re offering compared to what’s across the road for the same price. And anyone reading this comment, I urge you to keep in mind that 200$ is a lot to spend per night for a hotel and you will not get your moneys worth at this one. So disappointed
Go to the holiday inn express across the road, it’s typically almost the same price...
Read moreI was a guest at this hotel for three days. I am very disappointed first of all I came in to the hotel with my two and three year old toddlers and my husband. My first impression when I opened the door to our room was very disappointing , the floors had visible dried fluid stains and just looked very unhygienic. There was a strong smell of this awful scent which seemed to mask a smoke smell that was extremely overwhelming especially having children around. The sink seemed to have plumbing issues as water would take forever to drain. After the first day we noticed there was no house keeping that came to our room, the second day we put a sign outside our door requesting for one because we had little children garbage needed to be emptied and rooms tidied. . Everyday we noticed there was no housekeeping even after leaving the sign out requesting for one and also calling the reseptionist , no one came to empty the garbage and clean the rooms, replace the sheets and towels even after requesting for this. We checked out and a month after our stay at this hotel, I was looking at my credit card statement and noticed a $250 charge. I called the hotel and was notified that the charge was because the carpets needed cleaning after we left. They charged my credit card without notifying me , without showing me proof of the cleaning that they needed to do on the carpets.i had to email the manager who took almost a week to send me proof of the cleaning they needed to do on the carpets..I explained to her that there was no housekeeping for 3 days and she said that unfortunately there was food marks and they had to get the carpet clean. After viewing pictures it's absolutely crazy that they charged me a cleaning fee for little chicken dropping on the floor. I never return to this hotel again. I also urge everyone to take pictures when checking out of the hotel. Thank you...
