NEW review from today Jan 3/25 and not a good way to start the new yr! (Now 1 star but the other guy was nice and apologetic so will post a 2!)
Wow! The older lady server was so darn grumpy! Can she not just be let go! I had the same troubles the last time with her as I remember and I think I did not update my review then, not sure. Not many breakfast options here in town so wanted to finally head back and try again today.
She is only nice to other seniors I was noticing and sure was a complete grump to me! She even plunked my refill coffee down in front of the guy I was interviewing and just walked away briskly! It was actually a new cup of coffee brought and never even asked for that, just for a refill! I only got her attention as had not had a refill in a long time and asked nicely!! The guy I was interviewing said wow what terrible service here.
I cannot see myself ever going back here to Kelowna location until they get much more pleasant staff onboard!
I told the other guy who was very nice and he said not to worry on paying for coffee but still did and tipped him. He did nothing wrong! To leave without eating though is something else and as you can see by the pic I was intrigued by the new menu since in there last and had something in mind to order!
What is with older lady total grumps here in Kelowna?? Go do something else! It is pretty easy to take orders and just be NICE is it NOT???
I cannot see myself returning and now this review to up! 1 star to her all day long but 2 to give cause other guy so nice.
Review below was from 2018 but this past experience was much better and they moved up to 4 stars now. Just leaving the last review below too because nobody from management took the time to respond which was not good at all! Our last experience this past week was much better and much friendlier! (Jan 24/21)
New review in as of today Aug 17th, 2018. Decided to venture in again almost a week ago and on a non busy day and was the absolute pits! One of our guests' very first time and she said we need to leave and go elsewhere. No welcoming staff and we waited and waited and waited and a line up grew behind us so we sat ourselves and then got copped attitude for doing so and she took a phone call too! Then another 5 minutes sitting there like idiots and then we up and left! What a complete waste of our time, the 4 of us! I also wrote in next day on their feedback form and still NO reply back! 0 out of 5, not even 1 this time! I had to click on 1 star though to...
Read moreI generally like the Ricky's restaurant chain in BC, but the recent experience of my dining party at the Kelowna location won't see us eating at that location any time soon.
The first warning was the sign on the door indicating they needed staff in pretty much all positions. Per COVID and staffing shortages, I can accept that service can be slow and there can be problems, but this experience bordered on glacial, both in terms of speed of service (it took almost an hour and other diners bailed while we waited) and feeling abandoned on a remote glacier (staff rarely checked in, didn't bother to advise, and the food arrived somewhat cold, except for likely sitting under a heat lamp for too long).
Two of our party ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich, and with mine I had requested a small dish of hollandaise sauce (that is otherwise served on their eggs Benedict) to go with the extra crispy hash browns I ordered (which did arrive as requested). My hollandaise had developed a "skin" in the time it waited before delivery to our table. The other person with a Monte Cristo sandwich had the stuffed hash browns (which I have enjoyed at another location), but these came close to incinerated and woefully undersized from my previous experience.
Another diner in our party had the eggs Benedict with the same overdone/undersized hash browns.
Finally, the fourth in our party had a club sandwich and tomato soup, but the club sandwich came cold and soggy. This, unfortunately, may have led to a case of food poisoning later that day. How the rest of us didn't suffer the same fate, I don't know.
We didn't have time to send the meals back at the time, but should have. Another table that was seated after us actually got their food first.
The overall bad experience might have been mitigated a little if the service staff had been bothered to do anything to reassure patrons (other than warn one other party - that didn't stay - that service was going...
Read moreIf you’re thinking about going to Rickie’s, let me save you the disappointment and the wasted morning: don’t even bother. From the moment we walked in with our Accent Inn breakfast voucher cards, we were met with the absolute worst display of customer service I have ever experienced. We got there at 8:50 AM, got seated fairly quickly, but that’s about the only thing they managed to do without messing up. After sitting there for what felt like forever, we watched as the servers aimlessly wandered around, pretending to be busy while ignoring us completely—even though there were maybe seven other tables in the entire place. It took ages before someone finally decided to acknowledge our existence, only to ask if we wanted juice—no menus, no “how are you,” no “are you ready to order.” When they finally dragged themselves back with some menus, we ordered pancakes thinking, “How hard can that be?” Well, apparently for Rickie’s, pancakes are a gourmet masterpiece that need to be painstakingly crafted for forty long, excruciating minutes. When they finally brought them out, guess what? No utensils. Then no syrup. So we sat there staring at our cold pancakes while the staff acted like they were doing us a favour by tossing some forks on the table ten minutes later. And let me tell you, when I finally took that first bite, I regretted every second spent waiting for that salty, rubbery excuse for breakfast. I wouldn’t serve those pancakes to a stray dog, let alone a paying customer. Add on the attitude and sass from the servers, who clearly have no clue how to treat guests, and this place easily ranks as one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favour: keep your money, avoid the headache, and steer as far away from Rickie’s as possible. Even my worst enemy doesn’t deserve to start their day with food and...
