Ammar's Halal Meats is a family-owned butcher shop and deli that has been serving the community since its founding in 2004 by brothers Ammar and Bashar Al-hendi. The shop specializes in high-quality, antibiotic-free, hormone-free halal meats sourced from local Ontario farms, ensuring humane conditions for the animals. Ammar's Halal Meats is renowned for its extensive selection of fresh produce, daily baked pitas, sweets, and a full-service halal deli counter. The shop prides itself on maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and quality, surpassing rigorous inspections by Public Health, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. The butcher shop offers a variety of meats, including beef, veal, chicken, and lamb, all hand-slaughtered according to halal principles. Over the years, Ammar's has evolved to include a selective range of grocery items and has garnered a reputation as the only award-winning halal meat shop in the Waterloo Region. In addition to its physical store, Ammar's now offers online ordering, making it easier for customers to access their high-quality products. The business remains committed to its core values of excellent service and fine products, continually adapting to meet the needs of its loyal customer base.

Cleanliness: Very clean & organized. Quality of items: I bought meat and grocery. The meat was fresh. Pricing: OK. Yet, not the best as I still find another store less expensive. Customer Service: Very good. The butcher was friendly and very helpful. He served me with a smile, asked for any help I might need, and got the weight I requested. The cashier was friendly and fast. She answered my questions politely. I'd have given it a 5-star rate, if not because of one of the butchers, perhaps one the owners, who looked at me suspiciously more than once while I was served by the friendly butcher. There was no reason for him to assume that I was a shoplifter, so it might just be the way he always looked at people with darker skin. The guy lives in one of the most racist countries in the world, and he will get that taste sooner or later. This is a good Halal store, and it's absolutely nothing like that terrible place on Highland Road West.

Don’t buy the pre-ground meat. It’s not fresh and they will not honor an exchange. My wife bought pre-ground beef a few weeks ago and kept it in the fridge for 2 days. I went to use it on the 2nd day and the meat was smelling sour and oxidized. I’ve never had this happen before, usually fresh meat will last much longer than just two days so I called the store. The person on the line told me I should have used it right away and I shouldn’t keep it in the fridge. So I asked him about why grocery store meat lasts longer? He said they have an expirey date. His answers didn’t make sense and I ended the call. My only resolution is to store the meat in the freezer until garbage day and to never buy pre-ground meat again. If you want ground beef make sure to ask for it to be ground fresh, do not buy the pre-ground meat as they will not stand behind the freshness and you will do so at your own risk.

I’ve bought meat here a few times. I was in yesterday about 11:30 I asked for 2 ox tails cut. He showed me the weight on the meat scale by the meat it was 2.71 lbs. I went over to where he cut it and he had bagged it and labeled it 2.70 lbs @ 10.99. Lbs. I thought it felt a little light but went on my way. I weigh it before I start to cook and it comes out at 1.70 lbs. this is the second time they’ve done this now. I had been home hours by the time I measured it. Needless to say I had to rush out and get more. Which of course is sold out everywhere. Needless to say I will not be shopping here again and will make sure everyone I know that does asks to have it measured again before you check out. Shame on you.

What a great find! We recently moved to the area and fortunately found this grocer. This establishment brings back the spirit, flavour and good cheer I experienced in Arab supermarkets in the Middle East. Practically all what you need can be found here. There are all sorts of good healthy snacks that our children like. The home made snacks are true to word home made and you can tell they have momma’s touch. For example, the stuffed grape leaves are absolutely delicious as are their fatayer and their manakiskh. I’m so glad that they put up with my limited Arabic speaking skills. Thank you Mohamed in the butcher section.
