Whenever I go grocery shopping over at Ammar’s or get a haircut at Othman’s, I look forward to a shawarma at Zay Zaman’s. It’s a real treat, a snack cum meal, a good fill. The Middle East’s answer to fast food is not only flavourful, but healthy as well and oh do the good people over at Zaman do it so well.

Having indulged in shawarmas in many a restaurant in the Middle East and a few here in Kitchener, Toronto and Winnipeg, I’ve come to appreciate the experience and effort that is a Zaman shawarma. I love it that the always fresh pita bread is dabbed generously with a touch of lemon infused garlic sauce, a healthy helping of pickles and then a veritable smorgasbord of healthy fixings to choose from before the crispy chicken is shaved per order off the rotisserie spit. Copious amounts of the shaved chicken are then placed in the pita pockets. After that, for added taste Yussef gave my shawarmas a brush up against behind the spit along the heat and then on the grill for good measure for a few minutes. This process turns out a great mouthwatering delicious zesty full on chicken shawarma wrap.

To literally wrap up, you get great bang for your buck at Zaman’s where you’ll get the true taste you are supposed to experience. We keep coming back for more....

This place is another shawarma place in the area that used to be absolutely amazing and within the past number of months has been declining.

Not sure if they changed owners or what but the hot sauce is not consistent anymore and isn't always the same original hot sauce I became used to having.

They seem to have removed beef shawarma from the menu which is a massive disappointment as chicken shawarma is way overdone by these places and it's nice to have a variety. They should have removed the kebab from the menu but they kept that and removed the beef shawarma which I don't understand.

The amount of veggies they give in wraps is pitiful now.

The quality just isn't the same.

I used to come here every other week and have recently been coming every few months only when I have a craving because of the decline in quality, quantity and then raising the prices. I understand the increase but then I expect the quality and quantity of the food to remain the same or better and neither have occurred.

All that being said the people who work there are so kind and considering how busy it can get and how small the location is they do quite a good job at keeping up...

I FINALLY found the best Shawarma place in all of KW!!!!!!! I have to tell you I have been searching long and hard since coming out here from Mississauga. I have tried pretty much every place in all of KW and this place stands out to be the best one and only one that I would ever frequently go to. Nice welcoming, friendly women working. Right away, I noticed just how fresh the veggies looked and the meat. Every other place, I’ve been to has been a complete turn off . Other places reheat the meat and the veggies are never fresh. They all have a weird aftertaste and you could taste that the chicken is not fresh . Oh my goodness not this place , this place is top-notch. Freshest of the fresh!!!! The meat was so juicy and delicious and fresh off the spit. The lady sliced the meat right onto my plate. This is the kind of place I’ve been looking for long and hard for months. I’m so happy I found them finally. Oh, and the turnips are homemade, and not that salty artificially coloured jarred turnips that you find everywhere else.
