While the hoagies are genuinely fantastic, lately Eby Street Bodega’s popularity has made it impossible for them to keep up with business and deliver anything close to reasonable expectations of service. The last two times I’ve been there I actually wasn’t even able to have the sandwich, because the wait was over an hour and I had to leave. They don’t keep track of orders and rely on the front staff to remember whose order came first, resulting in people who ordered well after I did getting their sandwich, while I was still waiting. Perplexingly, they insist on bringing the order to your table, as opposed to having you pick it up at the counter - a model that is unique for this style of restaurant and that adds unnecessary workload on the already overworked front staff. Even at a table service restaurant, waiting over an hour for your order would be considered unacceptable. As the place gets more popular thanks to their genuinely good product, these issues will only compound. There’s lots to love about Eby Street Bodega, but they are in desperate need of a workflow overhaul and until this happens I will stick with Givral around the corner, or...
Read moreUpdate: I was able to take pictures this time. I had the charred Brussels sprouts and bacon sandwich today and it was incredible.
The sandwiches just keep getting better each time and more creative (thanks to the Owners wifey) the husband was so sweet how he was giving praise to his wife for creating these amazing sandwiches with flavours that will make you fall in love with this place.
Oh and oh so amazing cookies!!!!!!!🥰🫶❤️
The Owner is a really great guy 😉 very nice and welcoming.
Thank you!
Below is from my first visit: Unfortunately, can’t take pictures because I was so hungry and it looks so darn good that I just couldn’t wait any longer but to chow down immediately. I came across this hidden gem when I was going to the market across the road and I was looking around the neighbourhood. I love the cookies and I love the sandwich that I had today . It was the Italian. So delicious. Just even as you enter, you feel like you’re transported to a village in Italy . I highly recommend you try this place if you’re craving a sandwich that is high-quality ingredients and delicious bread that is freshly made in store every day. Can’t wait...
Read moreI recently stopped by Eby Street Bodega hoping to try one of their many praised options. However all options were already sold out except for the caprese sandwich. (It was around 1pm on a Saturday so if you want more options to choose from, it’s best to arrive early) The Caprese sandwich I ordered was fresh and delicious. However my preference for no bacon was overlooked, which was a bit annoying. The prices are on the higher side with all sandwiches starting at $15. This kinda seems ´justifiable’, given the quality of the ingredients used and the fresh bread and vegetables.
The seating situation here is less than ideal. The small space includes only three tables, which were all occupied, so i had to take my order to go.
I would recommend giving this place a try!! I plan to return myself to try other sandwiches and probably update...
