When this store first opened up, we went there in the summer and truly enjoyed the ice cream. My husband and I would take the grandkids, nieces, and nephews or just us for a treat. We could order a cone with a couple or more flavors to try several. I ordered several cakes. All were very well done. I hadn't been there for a while. Kids grow up. My granddaughter wanted an ice cream cake for her birthday. A slab. Simple. Just plain vanilla ice cream. Chocolate on the sides. A simple greeting. $75. When I went to get the cake, I told the girl immediately that it looked pathetic and was extremely disappointed in the cake. There was nothing on the top of the cake but the greeting. No edging or decoration of any kind. A plain white slab if cake. The chocolate on the sides was paper thin and melting off the cake. A small child could have done as well. I asked for, at the very least, to put a border. She had to make a phone call. Then, she put a few dollops of whipped cream around the top. Not real whipped cream either. I don't think they have any in the store. This did nothing to improve the cake. Fortunately, I had picked the cake up early. I was able to take the cake home, scrape the mess off the top and decorate it properly, and I used real whipped cream. I am not sure what they are making the ice cream with these days, but I recall that the ice cream cakes were hard after freezing. This cake was so soft after several hours in the freezer that we had no problem inserting the super fine candles. I am not sure what they are selling. I will not buy anything there ever again. I noticed while I was waiting that when you order more than one type of ice cream , they are now mashed together into one huge ball. Thankfully, there are other ice...
Read moreI went there to pick up a birthday cake. I was standing there for a while, since there is a 4 person per store rule, so I was able to observe a lot. None of the employees wore a mask, gloves or hair net. There were 3 employees working. One of the employees was talking to the customer with the scooped ice cream in her hand. If the employee wore a mask, then I'd feel safe that she didn't spit on the ice cream while she was asking the patron what toppings she wanted. The glass doors to all the open ice cream bins were left open. When they don't wear masks, gloves or hair nets, they aren't protecting the patrons from the employees sweat, hair, saliva, etc. I saw the other employee handle money, then she went to scoop toppings and organize the ice cream mixing area without washing her hands. In fact, the whole time I was there, they served 4 different patrons, and I didn't see any of the employees wash their hands at all. At the time of my visit, we were still in Phase 1 of quarantine. They need to take more precautions when serving food and working around food. We all are not 100% safe from the virus yet. The cake tasted fine, but after what I saw, I was hesitant in eating the cake. Did they follow protocol when making my cake? I'll find...
Read moreThe staff are extremely slow. We waited for more than 30mins to be served and it wasn't too busy. People cut in line because they were buying cakes or pre-scooped pints (which is more important apparently?) and it supposedly takes 2 staff members to fumble around and look through paper work. After making eye contact with one of the girls a few times, she reluctantly dragged her feet over to scoop my icecream so slowly that it was like she was moving backwards. After she served me my partner was left standing there for another 10mins before anyone served him, and that was only after I told one of the girls thats we'd been waiting a very long time and asked if someone could please serve him.
I understand that these are kids working here and it's probably their first job or even just a summer job, but c'mon girls. Move a little bit. Management needs to train for better customer service skills.
I'd never go back, but the ice cream is seriously good. So yummy. If you really like ice cream it's worth suffering through the...
