*The pictures reflect lobster rolls from other restaurants* The restaurant usually hits the spot and the food is fairly priced. However, this time around the food missed. If you are looking to try the lobster rolls. DO NOT. You pay $30 for "lobster" rolls that must contain the the absolute minimum amount of lobster to be able to be legally called lobster rolls. While the bread/roll was actually pretty good. They load the two rolls you get with predominantly celery and lettuce. I counted maybe 5 or 6 tiny pieces of lobster on each roll. It's a straight up scam to be honest. If the restaurant can't afford to load the rolls up properly then either increase the price or drop the item off the menu entirely. Most proper restaurants would charge market price for lobster rolls and that would fluctuate depending on the season.. and you would get a properly loaded lobster roll. To add to it, I don't understand why it costs $5 to upgrade to a side poutine that contains less fries than if I were to just get a side of fries... My father ordered the chicken tacos. And he said that it contained almost no chicken. It was just runny sauce. Again, charging way too much for way too little. Putting the bare minimum amount of chicken on the tacos and proudly serving it is almost insulting.

Pub fare is not typically my first choice when I think to eat out, though I do enjoy it very much. Having said that, I visited Malt & Barley with some family who wanted to check the place out, as they had heard that the wings here were top rate. Indeed, the wings here are absolutely fantastic. I ordered the Dry Cajun flavour, which had a nice light crisp on the outside, with juicy meat on the inside. The spice had a very mild hint of heat to it and had great flavour, and not over-salted as can often be the case with dry rubs. I also tried the Chipotle Mustard, which also fared well. Both of my other family members agreed that the wings were great. We added an order of fries to share among us, which sadly, were not as inspiring. They weren't bad, but they did not seem like they were freshly made, as they were a touch on the soggy side as if they had been made 20 minutes earlier. At the time we dined, we were the only ones in the restaurant. The wait staff was prompt and attentive. Prices are what you'd expect with today's rising food costs, and there's plenty of free parking nearby. This place doesn't change the fact that pub fare still won't be my primary choice for eating out, but if I'm ever craving wings, this place definitely deserves consideration.

Went out with friends last night and the Malt and Barely was suggested. We were curious and went. Unfortunately I did not get our server's name but she was fabulous (long curly hair). I asked for a sample of one of the beers. No hesitation, she just made it happen. I ordered the pork schnitzel. When the food came out and I tasted the gravy it sent me back to my grandmothers dining room table. I locked the Gracey bowl. The food was awesome, I had the sticky Toffee pudding for the dessert. I would highly recommend this Pub. Great atmosphere, great staff and amazing food. Did not disappoint. 4th time back Kez was our sever, great personality super fun and made us feel right at home. Was able to share knowledge of the dishes accurately. The food was great again. I had 2lbs of wings and a bowl of onion rings, my wife ordered the schnitzel. Everything has been great. They make the best onion rings ever. No grease, just a crisp perfectly cook ring. The schnitzel with Mashed and gravy is some of the best cooked. Thanks again for another great experience from an out of towner. When will you put a place in London?

Best tofu curry I have ever had. I have 2 humble requests: 1) Please don't discontinue this dish. 2) Please consistently pack the tofu curry sauce separately from the rice and pita for takeouts. I ordered this dish twice (and have ordered from here many times and love their fish tacos which is now discontinued). The first tofu curry I ordered a month ago, came with 2 small round containers filled with the tofu curry sauce. And 1 regular takeout container had the brown rice, pita bread and pickled onions and chillies. I was super impressed and blown away. Everything was intact by the time I got home. The second time I ordered it today and it all came in 1 regular take out container with the rice and sauce just dumped all together. The pickled onions and chillies were also gooped up with the curry sauce and even worse, the naan pita bread were also on the sauce goop :( By the time I opened it (I live 6mins from you guys) the entire container was soggy, the black checkered cheese paper which was the liner in the container was all soggy goopy and tore when I scooped the rice and sauce. I couldn't even see the rice until I scooped the sauce out to a different container. The pickled onion and chillies were so drenched with sauce that it didn't taste like condiments. It tasted like it was cooked with the sauce. The pita naan bread was drenched with sauce and was soggy bread. Why? Why pack it so beautifully the first time and then dump it all in 1 container the 2nd time? I voluntarily won't post pictures because the "all-in-one" looks very un-appetizing and I dont want people to not order this dish just because it looked like throw up this time. So PLEASE, anything with so much gravy and curry, pack it separately from the...

I was in on Tuesday Jan 9th, 2018 with my best friend to enjoy a night out. However, the service we received was absolutely terrible!! Our server Britt G ignored us the whole evening. This was now the second time this abysmal waitress served us. When we tried to get her attention she’d barely acknowledge us and walk away rather than standing at our table and actually taking our order. We waited for our order longer because apparently smoking was more important than doing her job. I’ve had bad service before but NEVER anything is awful. She ignored us and was super rude! I do not understand how this woman is a server. I used to go the pub at least once a week but because her service has put such a bad taste in my mouth that I don’t want to go back and I’ll never recommend the pub unless my friends want really crappy service. She walked around being polite to the few people she knew but clearly showed how she feels about her job when she treated my friend and I (who are also paying customers) like garbage. She was by far is the worst waitress I’ve ever encountered that it came to the point we almost walked out. Britt G has turn a place we used to like to go to, to a place we have no desire to go back to. She was RUDE in every sense of the word. She needs a lot of training in how to be polite and respectful to your patrons. I’d rather get a root canal than be served by a waitress like her again. She has no regard for anyone but herself. Also, it was nice to see her phone took priority over your customers. No wait, that too was extremely ill-mannered. We have never been so irate by server but she managed climb her way to the top. Awful, awful, awful! I only rated this a one star because I am not able to...

So, I have reviewed this pub before and given it a higher rating. It's one of the reasons I have went to it a number of times in the last few months when meeting people. This review is specifically about a complaint I have made to staff and management several times. Every time I'm there I specifically comment on the lack of local beer. This is a local pub. Owned by a local company. Frequented by locals workers. So, why do they choose to only stock big name breweries? They will argue that they stock Barking Squirrel...or as others know it, Moosehead. The truth is that they have no local beer. We are living in an epicenter of Craft Brewing in Canada and yet not one local beer. I get that the big breweries tell you what you're ordering, but at the end of the day your pub, and all the other locals in this company, sell enough that you would have power in your negotiations. It is time for you to start supporting your local brewer.

I have supported your pub a lot over the years. The ambiance is good, the food is tasty and it's a great spot to watch a game. But sadly, after numerous complaints to bartenders, and managers, I can't do it anymore.

Please. Enough is enough. Together We're Bitter Innocente Block 3 Elora Barncat Northworks Descendants

Since 1985 small breweries in Ontario have created 6000 new jobs. 1500 jobs in the breweries themselves.

Support local already. Locals are...
