We went last night, it was my daughters birthday and it's her favourite place to go. When we arrive we were told they just had a rush and it would be a min to be seated. We were seated pretty quickly, and we all knew what we wanted and ordered right away because we had our 11 month old son with us, and we knew he wouldn't sit long. Our salad and garlic bread came out, the salad was drowning in dressing and had way too much garlic I couldn't eat it. When our waiter came to our table and asked how it was, we said to him there was a bit too much garlic, well he seemed a bit offended but when he told us it was his recipe than I understand why he may of been upset. We certainly weren't rude in any kind of way, he asked and we gave our feedback. We waited for an hour maybe more for our food to come out without our waiter even acknowledging us or asking if we needed a drink refill. When the hostess walked by our table I ask politely if she could find out how much longer our food was going to be, she said " we are really busy and we're doing our best" , I could've related rudely although I wasn't blind to the fact that yes they were busy and yes they looked completely under staffed. Well than our waiter walked out red faced and seemed very angry and said "I heard someone at this table complained it was a long wait?" Yup sure did, I said, "well it's a Saturday and this is pretty typical, you still have 4 orders in front of you, I just served a table of 12 that was here way before you", I was just in shock that he was upset and angry at me for asking how much longer. So our food finally came out but our 11 month old had held on for long enough, I'd asked for to go containers. I walked up to pay my $94 bill, the waiter had still yet to apologize for the delay actually at this point he wasn't even speaking to me. I for some reason still tipped him $21, and he still wouldn't even say thank you, have a nice day, not a word. Please whatever you do, do not say anything about the dressing or the wait because he will make your experience a nightmare!! I will never...

METRO RESTAURANT absolutely disgusting service!!!!

My sister and I and our two daughters went to Metro for my dad’s birthday tonight. Our bill came to $88. My sister gave me $100 and she had to leave in a hurry and left it up to me to pay. I gave $102 cash, he asked if we needed change I said nope that’s for you… My dad needed extra room to put his coat on so we got to the front door and I was helping him get his coat on… the male server that was working, took just the change and slammed it on the little table and screamed here’s your change… my daughter, and I both jumped… and me and my dad looked at each other puzzled… so I walked over and said excuse me, but I gave you $100 and he said no you gave me $90… We were so embarrassed at the way he was talking to us and screaming at us in front of the entire restaurant that my dad pulled a 10 out of his wallet and gave it to him and we apologized… we got into the parking lot and I said to my dad I gave him a 10, 2x 20s and a 50… so he just got a $24 tip after screaming at us and scaring my seven-year-old….

I called Metro and the lady that answered, said she was going to investigate it when the situation calm down … not sure what that means or why he would be upset when he just hustled us for an extra $10

I will never be back! There was no compensation offered. There was no remorse.

The way we were treated over this gentleman not being able to count and realize the tip that we left is absolutely disgusting … to slam your hand down at women and a seven-year-old daughter is crazy…. I’m a domestic abuse survivor…. And the slamming of the hand was very triggering and very embarrassing…

The whole situation is absolutely atrocious and uncalled for

UPDATE…… Not sure if this post made it to management of metro…. But the restaurant has called me back… they apologized, and the server has been suspended without pay fir his behaviour. They did say they hope to...

My husband and I ate at Metro for the first time last night. (Valentine's Day). We didn't know where to eat but wanted to try somewhere new. I remembered seeing them featured on KW Curated's TikTok. So we called to see if they had room for us (being its Valentine's Day and we did not have a reservation) They told us if we could get there in a few minutes they could take us because of reservations. Lucky for us we were 2 minutes away. We were seated after a brief wait. The hostess and our waitress were so polite and happy. They were understaffed and run off their feet but not once was there a complaint. Our waitress told us she had just been called in due to sick calls and apologized they were understaffed. The service was amazing. The food was very good. Drinks were interesting. We got a platter for 2. Caesar salad and garlic toast. Delicious and homemade dressing. Then we had schnitzel (to die for) applesauce (homemade) pierogies (so good)mashed potatoes cabbage rolls (this was the only negative, we asked for the mushroom sauce to be put on the side because I don't like mushrooms and it came with it in top so I didn't eat that but my husband enjoyed. He said the mushroom sauce threw him a bit but he still enjoyed it) We will...

We ordered the schnitzel, sausage, perogies, beef soup, and Caesar salad. Portions were very small, except for the French fries. The schnitzel was the size of a hamburger patty but much thinner, of course. I only received three small perogies as the schnitzel accompaniment. The beef soup came in a tiny bowl the size of a shot glass or small dipping bowl. From a taste perspective, I found the food quite bland and lacking flavor. The fries were limp and soggy. As for service, the waiter that dropped off the food didn't ask us if we needed any condiments, and it wasn't until near the end of the meal that they came by and asked us if we needed anything. The place was not busy (perhaps two other tables), so there was no excuse for this lack of service. Food was also overpriced for what you get. I recommend looking elsewhere for the best schnitzel in town. My favorite is still Concordia club, but J&B down the street is also superior if you want something more substantial in the same vicinity.

Why do regulars stop going to their favourite place? It's usually because it's just not the same anymore. That was our experience when my wife and I stopped in at Metro for an early dinner. Drinks: The beer was good but my wife's cocktail seemed to be very light on the spirits and both were a bit less than full. Schnitzel: Delicious and crispy and always. Sides: This is where we had a problem. Her mashed potatoes were lumpy and lacked any flavour/salt/butter. My home fries - the standard german bratkartoffeln, tasted very old and stale, were burnt, and clearly microwaved as they were tough and chewy, with no seasoning. That simply ruined the quality experience we had come to expect. Our server, after delivering the meals, disappeared until it was time to get the bill. I pointed out the potato issue, and asked him if he would eat something like this. No reply and no apologies when the bill came. Things just aren't as good as they used to be...

My husband and I stopped here for a weeknight dinner and ordered the Paprikash with spaetzl and sauerkraut, and the Cordon Bleu Schnitzel with home fries and red cabbage. The Paprikash looked a bit different from the Hungarian ones I've tried, but it was delicious. The Schnitzel was crispy and cooked well inside, but it was underseasoned as were the home fries. Portions were generous and prices are quite decent for what you get. The staff were friendly and welcoming, albeit service was on the slow side. Our meals came with a small starter so it wasn't a big deal. Overall, I was happy with my experience and wouldn't mind going here again if I'm in the area, but I wouldn't seek it out.
