I don't like writing negative reviews because I want a thriving and variety-filled food scene in the region. The food was very good here and the atmosphere has a good vibe. However, the service is terrible. I ate there last night and for the first time in my life, I didn't leave any tip. It started when they brought one menu to our table of two. They were slow to get back to us even though there were only 2 other tables in the entire restaurant at the time. Lot's of talking and hanging out by the bar by staff. Finally took our order...we order one app, a drink and 2 entrees and a bowl of rice. Waited about 20 minutes before our one of our entrees arrived. The second arrived 5 mins later along with a basket of naan. No rice in sight so we started with the naan and waited and waited. Finally we flagged down another waitress (our original waitress was nowhere to be found and if we did see her she looked busy by the bar but still only 3 tables in the restaurant. This waitress went and brought my drink and said she was sorry and would bring the rice. We waited for another 10 minutes and watched them both scurrying around but no rice. My partner had to go the bar and ask for it. They finally brought it over 5 mins later. By that time most of our food was gone and the remaining food was getting cold. We had to flag her down 15 mins later for the bill. She arrived with a payment terminal but no hardcopy receipt. I didn't get to see the itemized breakdown but I didn't care because I just wanted to get out of there and for the first time ever, I left no tip. These two waitresses seem nice but they have no idea what they're doing and no sense of the order and flow of serving. This is my second time dining there and the first was with a group and we experienced the same thing with the waitress who served us last night. It's a shame because the food is very good but they're not going to last until they address the service issues and either bring in serving staff with experience or train their current staff properly. I want them to succeed but sadly, I won't risk dining...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting their newly opened Kitchener location (146 King St W Kitchener ON N2G 1A6), and was thoroughly impressed with their fusion of traditional flavors with innovative twists. Hoping to try a variety of dishes to fulfil my chicken cravings, I sampled the spicy Chicken 65, the fragrant chicken biryani, the succulent chicken malai tikka and 2 crispy kebabs - the chicken tangdi and the chicken tikka. The indulgent chicken feast was made only better with a delightful kothu paratha that was mixed in with vegetables and eggs along with an aromatic spice blend. With a side of crispy corn, the feast was one worthy of royalty and left me craving more! With attentive service and a menu that promises both authenticity and creativity, Rangeela is a must-visit for anyone seeking a delightful journey through the diverse and rich flavors of Indian cuisine. Should you find yourself in either Ajax or Kitchener, a visit here will leave you fully satisfied - highly recommended!

Read moreCame here for the first time around 5:30 on a Thursday. We ordered entirely too much food but we wanted to try things and the prices are incredibly reasonable ($7 samosas, $15-18 for the appetizers and main we ordered).
Samosas were good (4/5) and were larger than a regular samosa. The Lemon Pepper Chicken appetizer (4.5/5) was white-people spicy but had an incredible flavour (was truly like an Indian version of lemon pepper).
The Paneer Kathi Rolls (served with really delicious, crunchy fries), however, were unbelievable - a no question 5/5. Perfectly textured paratha with delicious paneer, roasted peppers and sauce completely exceeded my high hopes. I would come back here for this item even if everything else was terrible (it was not).
Last was the Lamb Rogan Josh (4.5/5) with a side of steamed basmati rice, which we were now too fool to eat more than a bite of, but it was also nearly perfect.
All in all a great experience at an astonishingly low price (bill before tip and no alcohol was $73). Can't wait to return to try more of the large menu (and get those Kathi...
