⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bayview Brewing Co. — Ladysmith’s Can’t-Miss Pit Stop

After a super fun spin around Vancouver Island’s Pacific Marine Circle Route, my wife and I stopped at the Bayview Brewing Company in Ladysmith—and promptly decided to skip the next ferry. It was that good.

Beer that re-sets the bar

“Famous Ladysmith Blonde.” Gold-medal smooth, ice-cold, and the perfect reward after a day in the saddle.

Lawnmower Lager. Crisp, refreshing, and every bit as satisfying as its Blonde cousin. Best beers I’ve tasted anywhere in B.C. or anywhere for that matter.

Food worth missing a sailing for!! The kitchen matches the taps punch-for-punch. Make sure to order the Pretzel-Bite Poutine: salty pretzel nuggets + squeaky cheese curds = pure wizardry that perfectly compliments their amazing beers!!

Vibes & service

Warm + super knowledgeable staff who treat travelers like locals. Awesome owner too who made sure to greet his new guests!

A breezy patio with harbour views that turns “quick beer" stop into “why leave?”

Motorcyclist approved Bayview sits right off Hwy 1, making it the ideal first or final stop from the ferry. Park the bike, swap your bike seat for patio seat + a pint, and toast the day’s amazing twisties. Rider Alert: pack a bigger backpack—my only regret was how few cans I could carry home.

Bottom line If you’re seeking some epic roads AND hunting B.C.’s best craft beer and creative comfort food, Bayview Brewing Co. is a mandatory stop. Start or end your trip to Vancouver Island here- guaranteed to be you new fave!

Pro Tip: Take some Blondes for a dip! Pack a few of their amazing 'Famous Ladysmith Blondes' and go find this secret swimming spot (HINT: it's between Port Renfrew to...

Have been wanting to try this pub for some time, finally got there today. Sat outside, they have long tables for sharing if you don't have a big group. The handmade benches are narrow and look uncomfortable but they are stable and surprisingly comfortable. The Pulled Pork sandwich was full of tender pork, nice, mild sauce, generous portion. The soup was a full bodied, tomato based soup. tasty and filling. For my main I opted for the veg option, Yam & Chickpea Tacos, quite tasty with avocado and pickled onions but I'm not a fan of the clump of sprouts on top, too hard to eat and kept the sauce from the taco. I may have seen a chickpea, not sure, but the yams were good and the rest of the filling made the whole package tasty. The chips and salsa were just what I would serve at home, store bought, nothing special. Would love to see them offer the artisan, handmade taco chips made by Taco Revolution with some homemade salsa, so easy to make. They did make an error on our bill, 2 tacos plus chips & salsa should have been $15 not $18, didn't notice until we were on our way home, not worth going back for. The view is very nice, you can see the water, around the new condo going up, there was a lovely breeze, lots of locals meeting up and visiting. We will probably eat here again. Can't forget the BEER, husband ordered the Red Yeti Red Ale from Dog Mountain Brewing, excellent, no...

Bayview is a fabulous little brewery that I will recommend and return to. The beers I have enjoyed are crafted to perfection. Believe me, I love craft beer, and at times, it can get difficult to tell the difference between one and the other. Not at Bayview! Here, the taste of every beer is unique and refreshing.

Just want to hang out without getting foggy or groggy? Know that this brewery is not only about beer. You can also enjoy a variety of non-alcoholic breverage if you'd prefer.

If you choose to sit on the patio and it gets a little chilly... you are covered! The establishment provides grandma's quilts to keep you warm. Just a little cozy trow over! I found this to be a wonderful touch that added to the experience.

Then, there is the food. I was mentioning how the beer was unique, but you need to try the food! Uniqueness in culinary art is also a strong trait of Bayview brewery. Try it out! You'll get a taste for it!

To sum it up, Bayview brewery is an authentique, creative, lively, and joyful place to enjoy a bite and brew with family and friends. If you are ever in Ladysmith, make a stop! Or make it a destination. It...

My husband and I visited the Bayview Brewery for the first time last night. It was absolutely phenomenal! The service and atmosphere was friendly and welcoming and the space was cozy and fun. They had an impressive selection of their own beers on tap; my favourite was the Straw-Barry Manilow, a strawberry cheesecake sour. It was delicious! My husband had the Cowichan Common which he loved….he’s Belgian so knows what he’s talking about when it comes to beers 😉 And the food - wow. To start, we shared the tuna tartare and the pretzel bite poutine with beer cheese sauce. We were blown away! And even though we were already full from the appetizers, we couldn’t resist ordering more food to try! We had a chicken shawarma naan pizza and a chicken shawarma bowl. Just wow. The food was SO delicious. We will absolutely be coming back and will be recommending to everyone we know. If you’re passing through Ladysmith - or make it a special trip! - don’t miss out on stopping into the Bayview Brewery! You won’t regret it! And an added bonus - they allow pups on the covered patio! We got to have a visit with this big floof in the photo ☺️
