Just visiting the Island from a freezing cold Edmonton, AB and today is my last day here before heading east again. I googled 'best soup and sandwiches near me' and this is what came up so I thought I'd give it a try. I expected a small 'mom and pop' type place and that's what I got. Great homemade bread, great homemade soups, great sandwich, great staff. What threw me for a loop was the Military memorabilia when I walked inside. As a Veteran, it's awesome to see support for the troops, but in the case of this place, I knew people who sailed on a number of the ships and submarines represented here and that choked me up. The only thing I couldn't find was the plaque representing my ship though, unless it was hiding; HMCS Provider. You have a great place here, I would definitely recommend it to anyone, and should I be back on the Island in the future, I'll come again. Thank you

Gathering blankets, pillows, clothes, drinks, and snacks from home, I called Dad's soup and sandwich shop. June, the owner, generously agreed to prepare 15 sandwiches with fresh bread for us to distribute to the homeless. Meeting June in person, she expressed admiration for our actions and shared her contact information for future collaborations. Accompanied by my 6-year-old and 3-year-old sons, we ventured downtown Victoria, where we encountered 44 individuals in need. The gratitude they showed touched our hearts deeply. It was a profound experience for the boys, teaching them the importance of kindness and non-judgmental love in making a positive impact on the world. We look forward to meeting again soon. Thank you so much, June, for your kindness and support. Let's continue spreading love and doing what we can. 🌟🙏💓

Tried this place for the first time today and loved it. It is a cute little soup and sandwich shop. Everything is fresh and mostly made in house. The bread is freshly baked in house, turkey is roasted in house and soups are made from scratch. They do run out of certain things later in the day, so best to go earlier. Also, very friendly and sweet staff.

Feeling sad about today’s experience at dads sandwhich. I love dads and it was one of the first take out meals I asked for after having my baby this year, but I will never be back. After seeing a post on their Facebook page from December about it costing $0 to be kind, I’m even more perplexed at what happened... let me preface this by saying I’m sure that people park in the 15 minute zone outside the store all the time and know full well it’s not for public use, so I get the frustration. However, as someone having a million things on my mind for the rare time I get to do errands without my baby, I did not see that the space was for customers only. Sabhai thai's lot was fully packed and I was running in for a take out order. I had maybe made it ten feet from my car when I hear someone yelling at me? Rather than her giving me the benefit of the doubt that I didn’t notice I was in private parking I was told to move extremely rudely. I could hardly get a word in before she started closing the door. When I said “excuse me can I speak to you? I would come to your business in the future but because of the way you came out and attacked me I won't want to. I genuinely didn’t see the sign.“ she replied “I DON’T CARE. MOVE” and closed the door. To which I shouted "you are so rude!" (sorry)... I was stunned. I didn’t swear. I didn't argue or refuse to move. (I get why I shouldn't park in customer parking!) I wanted to have an adult conversation and even apologize for my mistake but it felt like being hung up on. In a world where we are so quick to be mean to strangers (retail or otherwise,) I was hoping this exchange could’ve been handled differently especially on Valentine’s Day. That I could’ve been given the benefit of the doubt and maybe it could’ve gone something like “excuse me, I’m not sure if you noticed but you are parked in our parking spot... there are public spots a few feet down for you to use” But the treatment of being so insignificant that my patronage didn’t matter to this woman (not sure if owner? Older with short brown hair) was shocking. I have family that own small businesses and I know that customers word of mouth is almost everything, you need to be careful with the way you treat The public, when there’s so much competition out there. I know you are a beloved shop clearly, but if you keep this up and people tell their friends who tell their friends (Langford is growing, but still smallish) you will run your business to the ground. I’m not sure what I’m looking for. An apology? Awareness so that woman doesn’t treat another person so...

Delicious, house-made soups daily, and big, fresh, yummy sandwiches - or "sangies". I discovered Dad's at their previous location a couple of years ago after moving to the area, and am very glad I did!

Run by friendly, neighbourly people, you can come in to get a delicious meal to eat in at their new, roomier (and much easier to access, with lots of free parking) location on Jacklin by Goldstream, or take it with you.

Soups range from classic to inventive, meaty to vegetarian-friendly, and there are a few varieties available each day. You can plan ahead to get your favourite or try something new by consulting their monthly calendar, available in-store and online.

There's also an assortment of fresh baked goods if you'd like a snack or dessert with your meal.

I really appreciate that their to-go soup containers are compostable, too! Great stuff, Dad's!

Today it was one of my favourites: an egg salad on yummy, chewy multigrain, for my housemate I chose the recommended Asian Chicken Dumpling, which had a mouthwatering thick curry base, filled with veggies and chicken, and freshly made Asian style dumplings, which my housemate reported were "huge" and "stuffed with meat and vegetables"! It came with a heel of bread, which really added to how filling the meal was. He was VERY happy, and I was thrilled to have picked another winner as a surprise, easy, weeknight dinner.

We'll definitely look forward to our next meals from Dad's, and happily recommend them to anyone....
