Since the reopening of new Mantra I don't try new Indian restaurants. I've been to many, keep returning to my favorite. So we're in Langford and doing some shopping and the S.O. wants some spicy noodles. Hey! There's NoodleBox! Hey what a surprise, it's Packed! Hey! There's a Sizzling Tandoor here! Let's eat here and hopefully the staff at Mantra don't find out! WOW When your server asks you for your level of heat, I know it's not going to be bland. ( Not that heat is a flavor) So we ordered the fish tandoori -hot- chicken mango curry -hot- and coconut prawn curry, yeah, hot. And the dishes were superb. The flavor hits you like a kick in the tastebuds. And the heat? Subtle. It's after you chew and swallow and prepare for the next bite, you feel it. It starts slow and fills your mouth with a smouldering fire. It's not volcanic; it's like a baseboard heater that takes time to get up to temperature. I'm grateful they have Dark Matter on tap. FSHHHH! Puts out the fire! LOL SERIOUSLY - hot but not HOT If I had one suggestion that would change my devotion to Mantra is that the fish be a little firmer. Not sure if it was cod or tilapia but it could have been a little more hearty. It didn't flake well, just sort of fell apart but... Nitpicking... I LOVE YOU SIZZLING TANDOOR KITCHEN STAFF! Our server was great as well. Attentive and attractive and funny. Sorry I can't recall your name. I asked but I was probably distracted by the flavors still being all rowdy in my mouth, literally hours after my meal. Had lots of leftovers next day too Even better!! 5 chilli's!!! Or......

You can tell even before tasting the food that it is a step up from your regular Indian wedding fare. We were impressed with the range of items- Sizzling Tandoor masters everything from North to South Indian cuisine. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS, from the fresh bhaturas to the idlis to the kathi rolls to the fusion pasta. They can do everything from innovative street food to the classics like mattar paneer and daal makhni.

They also put a lot of care and attention into ensuring everything is perfect, from the presentation to the food temperature. These are the characteristics one wants in a food caterer for special events like a wedding week. Sizzling Tandoor is a class of its own for Indian caterers.
