Environment is lively Service amazing My only disappoint was that althoughI had done my due diligence to see if the menu items were the same as Lucille West Island it was not. We had the lamb and the Lobster with ribs. The Lamb is not the same rack of Lamb dish as Lucille’s West Island so please be forewarned.
Each person as their pallet preferences.
For me the version of the rack of lamb menu item at Lucille’s West Island was to die for, It left me dreaming of going back for more.
6 pieces of a healthy size of rack of lamb, extremely tasty and juicy A sweet potato type of mash that melted in my mouth , I never tasted a sweet potato mash so good A green salad with a dressing like no other that had a unique taste that kept me curious and wanting to try more. ( the most shocking part of this story was that I purchased the same meal twice that day once to eat in and one to take out)
So I ate the meal cold when I got home and it shocked me how tasty it was cold - I was hooked-
So I planned to go to the Laval restaurant for the first time on my birthday thinking I would have this meal I was dreaming of…
The dish with the same name and same price came to my table. When it arrived the lamb looked similar but the dish was not the same.
5 Smaller pieces of rack of lamb À potato mash A cucumber salad
I immediately advised the waitress that this was not the dish I was expecting, and she reassured me that it would be tasty.
The rack of lamb was tasty but it was totally different from the West Island taste The portion size of lamb was much smaller so I was left unsatisfied. ( due to expectations that I would get equivalent from the two restaurants, since the dish price was not the same)
The mash potatoes were also tasty, but not “special “ as I came to this Lucille’s expecting the same dining ( taste) experience.
I am happy to pay the premium if the taste of the food is definitely a touch above.
I did not feel this way at Lucille’s Laval but I DEFINITELY did at Lucille’s West Island.
But I want to say thank you to the staff and management as they were great, they took my concerns seriously and explained why the dishes were different between the restaurants. I just wish I knew in advance.
So I do recommend trying both restaurants and pick the restaurant that suits...
Read moreWe all know the food is great. We wouldn't come to this place if it wasn't great. So if you are reading this review, it isn't about the food or service which are both impeccable. Even the pricing is good for what you are getting. And it is nice to see a restaurant properly pricing so they can provide quality food.
It ends there though.
Let's set some expectations. This is a very popular restaurant. Everyone likes the place. Very much in demand.
I went with my better half for our 10th year wedding anniversary knowing very well the above. That being said, any tables for 2 were literally set up like cattle. The tables next us were so close that all conversations were pretty much group conversations. There was zero privacy. And I understand that a table for 2 will be amongst other tables that are the same but when the ladies struggle to put their purses next to themselves since it will touch the neighbour... You have an issue.
I wasn't expecting to whisper sweet nothing's in my wife's ear all night but when your conversation is being drowned out by the people beside you over the music? When your tally comes out to over $180 per person... You kinda expect better.
The flip side. I have been here however with a group of people. Wow did we ever have a lot of fun. In a group setting, you are leaning into your table joining group conversations. It is normal that things are really loud.
So in the end, the recommendation is to come as a group. Food is impeccable. Service is great. Come as a group. Do not come whatsoever as 2 unless you don't mind feeling...
Read moreOur waitress was very nice and friendly. She knew her menu. Cant recall her name. The food was okay…can’t say more. I found it to be overpriced for what it was. Should’ve listened to my gut and gone to the keg, never disappoints For entre had: the tartar. It was basic, it lacked flavour. It was served with some rice noodles, this was a first for me. When we asked where were the croutons we were told it didn’t come with any I was a bit shocked and asked if I could have some. The girl who brought our food out made me feel like I was asking for the world!(it wasn’t our waitress) the croutons were very salty but I guess it helped make the tartar taste like something. the fried calamari, was okay, Nothing more than just okay! The coating was falling apart :/ we also had the fried chicken, the only thing in our entrees that made sense. Nice portion and tasty. I ordered the shrimp & steak plate, disaster 🥲. Only thing that made sense were the shrimps. I asked for my meat to be medium and it was over cooked to the point that some places were burned….my meat was very salty…just a mess overall! Mind you I have a hood tolerance for salt! So if I found it salty, it’s cuz it was! I tried the octopus, very good served with a Greek salad. Should’ve gone with that! It’s a nice ambiance, very busy place so if you want a place laid back where you don’t feel the pressure to order constantly and then leave right away, stay far...
