*After the experience I had last time I was excited to go back this evening and have some sushi and a beer. I ordered the flaming tuna which is something I’ve never tried there before. Unfortunately they were so heavy handed on what tasted like garlic Mrs Dash that when I took one bite I had to spit it out. In the menu description it didn’t even mention it having any dried garlic sprinkle on it. I told the waitress that it wasn’t good and I couldn’t eat it because of the spice. When I went to pay the bill it was still on there. I was surprised as I had expressed that it was inedible and I couldn’t even eat it. I said I felt like I should not have to pay for an item I only took one bite of…The best the owner could do for me is give me %30 off. I said it was unfortunate as customer service these days is king and seeing as I lived across the street I would have become a loyal customer and spent hundreds over time. I understand that times are tight for small businesses but I would have made up in spades but seeing as they couldn’t even take a $10 item off my bill they’ve lost a customer. Sorry Maple Sushi.
Ok. I’ll admit that I’ve driven by Maple Sushi a thousand times and haven’t given it a second thought. I’m glad I finally stopped in. The staff was friendly, it was a fun inviting atmosphere, the sushi was great and the saki was smooth. For my first time there I stuck to the basics and tried the chicken teriyaki bento box and salmon oshi. I’m happy that there is a great sushi place within steps of where I live and I can wait to stop in again and get a little more adventurous. Perhaps it will become a Friday...
Read moreOur first time ordering from Maple Sushi and it was okay. The staff were really friendly on the phone when we were placing our order! The tempura, gyozas, and drunken monkey roll were really good, but the rest was really lacking in flavour. This included several items: beef teriyaki bento box (again, tempura in this was good, but the beef teriyaki and california roll were just okay) sashimi bento box (salmon sashimi was good, but california roll didn’t have much flavour and the tuna sashimi tasted off) dynamite roll with no fish eggs (i even added spicy mayo, but there wasn’t much flavour to that either) beef and chicken teriyaki rolls (these had absolutely no flavour at all; the chicken and beef were both dry with no teriyaki sauce on them, and absolutely no seasoning)
While it was our first time trying Maple Sushi, these are all items we order whenever we get sushi and have been really great from several other sushi restaurants we’ve tried. Unfortunately for the amount we paid for our order (around $85), the food was not worth it. We won’t be ordering...
Read moreSince the place got renovated in September of 2016, and changed their menu it has gotten so much better. Before the specially rolls were mediocre and expensive, now they are tasty and reasonably priced. We had a coupon from Canada Day 150th and each had a BOGO roll. So we tried the Devil's Tail and Canadian Roll, and from the Seared menu we tried the San Fransisco Roll and Hot Pearl. The seared rolls were good but nothing to rant and rave about unless you like that charred but not burnt taste. But the Devil's Tail was delicious with the right amount of spice. The Canadian Roll was fantastic with bacon, cream cheese, and cucumber as the main part of the roll drizzled on maple syrup which takes the Cake. We also had the chicken karaage which was also very good but since it was an appetizer it should of came first not which we were chowing down on the rolls. All in all if it wasn't for that coupon, we wouldn't of tried Maple Sushi but with this new menu I think we'll be back to try some more of the menu.
