EDIT: BASED on restaurant reply. We were not told it was super busy beforehand so much so that it would affect our service outside and they did tell us the patio was open before and that we could sit outside. We realize it was chilly but the amount of time you guys took made us freeze more then we should have. They did not say we would be served after everyone as thats not usually how it should be done. We didn't expect to be put lower priority on the service , I feel as though we should have been served before the other tables inside that came after us.
The waitress did NOT allow me to substitute for a surcharge at all either, they just said they cannot make any changes. Overall, I don't appreciate this business blaming it's customers. Yes we did choose to sit outside but not thinking we would be treated and served differently and also we were told a lot of things werent possible and given to us very late. So please do not say it was your customers misunderstanding when your servers did not communicate or know what was going on the entire night and even forgot we were outside. That's not very professional.
This was my second time at Paliottis I was from out of town and excited to try their food and show my partner. I don't remember the food being too great but thought I'd give it a shot. I loved their lavender hot chocolate the last time.. I'm not one to complain usually, but I was very disapointed. We sat outside since it was busy and smaller location and thought it might not be too cold. The waitress forgot to come get out order for about 20 minutes because it was busy inside. I got the special 3 course and I wish I had been able to swap the one sauce for the pasta for a vegan sauce since they only had one or two vegan items on the specials menu - I didnt want to get sick from too much dairy anywho. The food took awhile - and we also asked for balsamic for the bread and never got it and when we asked again we were told they didn't have any anymore.
When my pasta came out it was served on a big plate which was odd and it looked like something you just throw together at home with cheap rose sauce. It didnt taste good. And I got very sick later that night. I could have made a better dish at home. The waitress also took another 10-15 minutes to bring us more water and we honestly thought they'd forget again. We never ended up ordering special drinks we wanted because we didn't want to wait any more. My partner did enjoy his vegan wrap. The fries were tasty. But I was very disapointed with the pasta. And also we weren't too happy with the service and also the didn't have heaters on the patio so we did freeze after them taking so long.
I had wanted to try their vegan cheesecake but was no longer in the mood.
The vegan brownie was good but they didnt have vegan ice cream which was odd.
Overall, just was super unhappy after wanting to try their food for a while. Especially since my partner and I dont have much money to spend going out and it's sad to be not happy with our choice.
I understand why my friend said they're a hit or miss depending on how busy they are. Probably won't be back as the food and service as not great. I hardly ever write...
Read moreSo... went there for valentines dinner. We had a reservation for 9:30pm but couldn’t arrive so late as next day commitments were pressing me and my husband for an early night, so we arrived at 7:30pm. Of course, it was super busy, one table free but with a bunch of used dishes on it, and the servers were too busy to clear it. Not too long after our wait, we got seated at now cleaned table and got to order our moktails; a pina collada and a mojito. The pina collada was so smooth, my husband couldn’t understand how can they blend the ice to such smooth consistency. It was most enjoyable. As the evening progressed, we ordered our appetisers and mains and waited. And waited. And waited some more. It took an hour for the first appetiser to come out, we had the vegan calamari (oyster mushrooms lightly breadcrumbed and deep fried) served with shreds of lettuce and a dip of Vegan tzaziki sauce. I tell you now, the long wait was worth every bite! It’s by far the best tzaziki sauce I’ve had in my entire life! And the vegan calamari truly impressed me with its genius approach. Absolutely worth the wait! The second apps was the Vegan Satay chicken skewers, which basically is tofu with lovely peanut base sauce. Delicious and super filling. We had time to digest the calamari before the skewers arrived so that helped. We really shouldn’t have but we ordered the mains too. I had the beyond meat sausage fettuccine Alfredo (vegan) and my husband had the kajun vegan chicken penne pasta. Barely two mouthfuls in we were defeated. SSSOOO MUUUCCHHH FFOOODDDD! The portions are definitely not for normal size stomachs. This is not a complaint by the way! We both ended up packing our mains to take for lunch to work the next day. I ended up sharing my (what was supposed to be) one portion with other 3 people at the office and they all absolutely loved the alfredo. My husband said he was unable to finish his pasta in second attempt. Great value for money! The owners are such lovely people, I do feel that they could benefit from some training in managing servers tsks in terms of prioritising duties, but they’re pretty new business so I’m sure they will learn and get better with time. I will absolutely visit them again, despite the wait, and some other unrelated drama that occurred that evening (vegan extremists assaulted an elderly lady and stole her accessory, shameful behaviour) I would 1000000% advise everyone to put the impatience aside and go try their food. It’s absolutely amazing! I also have to mention that the owners and chefs were so quick in responding to the unfortunate crime that took place in the dining room that evening, their reaction and quick thinking is commendable. A trully sincere and genuine team, whom I would trust to make my food and defend me from thieves any day! Well done to all at Palliotti’s Weatside!...
Read moreMy wife and I have eaten at this location 3 times in the last 2 months. 1st time was excellent, 2nd time was uh oh. Calamari was so chewy it could not be eaten, no utensils given. My wife had Penne con pesci and was excellent. I had the Fettuccine Paliotti, it was good but was loaded with tomatoes which I can't stand and are not ingredients of that menu item. My son in law was given a plate he didn't even order. At one point the smoke was so bad inside, we were told that the vents were not working properly, it smelled like they had a severe grill fire happening in the kitchen. 3rd time was Mothers day, we had reservations, seated beside the garage door. Once again toxic fumes filling up the air and they need to open up the garage door, it was so cold being seated there. We asked them to close the door and they did. Food was excellent for all of us, took at least an hour to get it. Don't dine in, pick up your food. 4th time, 11 months later, only 4 people already seated inside. it took 20 minutes to place our order. 15 minutes later, once again, the garage door had to be opened all the way up to relieve the smoke from the kitchen. It took a respectful 28 mins for our food, it was extremely hot and delicious. The waitress only came by once but she did apologize stating it was due to all the skip orders being taken. 5th time....I have to go with my wife, somebody punch me in the head please, I'm so sick of eating here, ya ya the food is good but the...
