As of Friday, April 7, 2023 this place has really changed for the worse. When you want fish'nchips stay far away.
We ordered 2 halibut fish and chips and 1 spaghetti with meat sauce on Good Friday. The Fish was good but extremely small measuring 5" x 3" a child's meal size. One batter was wet and soggy at the end piece. Holy moly the fries looked like they were made last week. On both orders the fries were certainly not cooked today. As a fry expert they were the worst we have ever eaten anywhere in the world. Even the small cuts in the fries was evident they were old, both tossed in the garbage. I assume Carbon wants to meet their quota on this meal, forget it. It will not pass. Maybe it's time to send Public Health their because this is not quality food. The spaghetti and meat sauce, eaten by a youth said the combination of carrots added to the sauce was terrible. Her meal had no taste; she didn't eat it all and that says a lot. We have eaten here many times, always in the restaurant. Today's order was made by calling in. Now, we were late picking up the food but that attributed little to the meal. The fish good but too small for the price, fries were incredibly bad, coleslaw served in a piddily dish was warm, also not fresh. Quite the rip-off. That went into the garbage as well. Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe place itself is nice. But there is one huge issue - the owner. I was a regular there for about a 4 year period from 2019 to 2022. Owner Ken was being a nice guy and treating me like a friend. One night on a bipolar high, I believe I took my shirt off and it was inappropriate. But still par for the course compared to what usually goes on there. So he decided to ban me, but did not tell me about it to my face. I showed up 2 days later with 3 friends, sat down, ordered, got served. Then 10 mins in, one of the servers, Noor, says I'm not welcome there. I object. She calls him over. He comes in, looks, says 'I have no time for this' walks out. So I took it out on her, since he made it seem like she was taking it upon herself to ban me. I kept coming back, and being told, to 'go home'. Without ever officially being told I'm banned or anything. From a guy (the owner, Ken) who used to treat me as a brother, ask me to DJ there, and keep the order when he would leave, I find this unforgivable. And below human. Everything else is cool. But smiling to someone's face while stabbing them in the back is something I cannot condone. One must be mature enough to look another in the eye and say the truth. Ā Ā Ā Read more19$ for 5 mouthfuls of pasta that cost them -2$ to make ? I get there is overhead and wages but ITS PASTA!! At least give a bigger portion than 5 mouthfuls and I would be happy to pay it and frequently. I eat out all the time and I have no problem paying for food and I tip very well but if you give me a pasta for $19 and I need two of them as an average normal sized woman thatās a shame. Because itās good and I probably would order it all the time but I just refuse to pay that for such a small tiny portion. Itās just ridiculous. -my advice, make the portion bigger and I would probably be there weekly- oh, and one more thing the prices on the specials a d menus that you guys have posted in here at no longer exist.
