With the warm weather finally hitting its peak, dessert cafes have become all the more tempting for some refreshment! On a hunt for a new Korean dessert option, I came across Snowday (449 Church St, Toronto, ON M4Y 2C5). A tiny eatery in the heart of Church Street, this place has become my new favourite eatery for bingsu in Toronto. Onto what I ordered! Hoping to try a summer fruit, I got the mango bingsu. Featuring velvety shaved ice drenched in sweet condensed milk, the base was utterly creamy and luscious. Juicy mango chunks added a burst of tropical flavor, perfectly complemented by rich, buttery bites of cheesecake. Every spoonful was a delightful blend of icy coolness, fruity sweetness, and indulgent decadence. The tiramisu slice made the meal even better, with delicate ladyfingers soaked in rich espresso, offering a bittersweet contrast to the creamy mascarpone. Each bite melted in your mouth, with the cocoa powder on top adding a slight hint of chocolatey bitterness. Light yet indulgent, the dessert left us craving another spoonful of its velvety, coffee-infused goodness. The 2 iced coffees were the perfect accompaniment with the vanilla and hazelnut flavours hitting the spot - the perfect refreshing end to the perfect refreshing meal! Snowday has truly mastered the art of turning simple ingredients into an unforgettable experience. Whether you're in the mood for a fruity escape with their range of bingsu flavours or a classic indulgence like their cakes, or a combination of both with cake bingsu, this cozy spot on Church Street offers a sweet sanctuary from the summer heat. I can't wait to return and explore more of their delightful menu - it's definitely my new go-to dessert haven in Toronto. Highly recommended! Continuing to tag along with the kids after dinner, I left my ‘ post-dinner desert fate ‘ in their hands. We ended up one block further up Yonge in another buzzling strip plaza where a Korean Shaved Ice dessert cafe is located. The products they offer were a real eye-opener for us un-initiated. Instead of their Japanese cousin’s rendition, where the shaved ice were normally doused with technicolor syrups or juices etc. Here, the owners allowed their creativity and imagination to run wild! The ‘ Tiramisu Bingsu ‘ we ordered was such a fine example. Huge pile of shaved ice soaked in cream, good quality, aromatic espresso coffee, a touch of Amaretto syrup, fine icing sugar powder and covered with cocoa powder dust…..and to top it all, crowned with a huge piece of real Tiramisu cake!! Talk about an instagramable product! The other two selections were no slouch either. Black sesame and Green Grapes…..the latter meticulously garnished with some super sweet seedless green grapes. To that, a piece of delectable ‘ Basque Cheese Cake ‘ was also added to the mix. Pity I left my bottle of Spanish Pedro Ximenez Sherry at home?! Ha!😉😋 What a delightful finale to cap off a fun and enjoyable evening!

January 20, 2023. I came in on a Friday night during exams week. Initially, I was delighted by the atmosphere and subtle decor. I took a while to decide what I wanted and ended up getting a mango bingsu and matcha red bean bingsu. While paying, I noticed their home-baked cookies at the cash register. I didn’t purchase one but the boss, Daniel, noticed and ended up recommending the red velvet one and offered it on the house along with my order. Super nice of him! He seemed like a very genuine man who has a passion for his works. The wait-time was an estimated 10-15mins. The employee got my original order wrong and made a strawberry bingsu instead of green tea. But Daniel offered it on the house as he continued to make our initial order. When we couldn’t finish it he packed it to-go for us, as well! The bingsu was light and balanced. Not too sweet! The topping to shaved ice ratio was perfect! During the sit-down experience, I watched as Daniel attended to every customer by offering them cutlery and napkins, wifi passwords, and additional acts of service. I definitely recommend this place and will be coming back soon. Thank you Daniel😆🥰
