Dine in Date: August 08. 2021 3:05pm Food: smoke salmon egg benedict Drink: black coffee Waitress : Vanessa
My dine-in experienced has really left me upset. Once I was seated, my waitress didn't give me any menu. I ordered a hot coffee and told her I would like to eat egg Benedict (sort of knew the menu by head since I love to eat egg benedict every so often). In a short period, my coffee and smoke salmon benedict arrived. There were 3 pieces smoked salmon benedicts. I took a photo and took my first bite on the egg which was covered with a lot of sauce on top. Soon, I noticed the egg was a regular fried egg with the yolk runny easy instead of a porched egg like how they are usually. I was upset because egg benedict should have come as porched egg. If I wanted a fried egg with runny yolk, I could have cooked that at home instead. I called my waitress, Vanessa over and asked her if it will it be okay if the eggs can be changed to porch eggs instead of fried eggs. She declined my request since I ate part of the first egg which I couldn’t even tell if it was pouched or not since they literally hid the egg under a lot of sauce. She also mentioned that is the way sunset grill cooked egg benedict by frying the egg with the yolk runny. After that response, I couldn’t really argue since that was how they “cook” them, so I just resume eating my meal. As I was eating, I went to check Yelp on this restaurant and what Vanessa told me were all lies. Their pictures showed the benedict had porched egg on the top not a fried egg like mine. At that moment I was angry and upset because I felt like she lied and broken my trust as a customer. She no longer came back to my table to check up on me after our previous confrontation. I guess she ended her shift since she sat down eating her meal next few tables over. 15 minutes later, she handed me the bill when I haven't asked for the bill. I guess she was trying to kick me out even though there were also other diners that came before me still seated. I didn't even finish my food yet. I was still debating if I should call a manager to complain or talk to her directly and express my feelings. I explained to her that I am very upset and that I am not trying to start an argument. I told her that when I requested to change the fried eggs to porched egg. You denied my request. As a customer point of view, you refused to change for me and that's very upsetting when it wasn’t even what I expected. As you mentioned, you are not changing my dish bcause I ate already. You didn’t have to change the first egg since I took a bite on it but the other 2 eggs weren’t touched at all. Can you replace that instead? I advised her, maybe next time when you speak to the next customer you can ask them if they would like porched eggs or fried eggs not if you like your egg runny. As a waitress, you are serving for customer services and your tips depends on it. In the end, I didn't get any apology for the mishaps. I paid my bill and tipped the waitress even through she sort of kicked me out of the restaurant half way through my meal. I felt bad not tipping due to the rough times from covid. I lost faith for this restaurant and all because of the bad customer service and...
Read moreBecause food and service is normally top notch, in anywhere from 2 to 3 times a week. Yesterday, three of us in for lunch, had to repeat order to waitress three times in spite of being very straight forward (toasted bacon and egg sandwich on white with home fries well done). No worries, maybe she's having an off day. Food comes, always super tasty home fries are a stacked pile of mush that look more like mashed potatoes and taste terrible. Move onto my sandwich, well it's toasted on white but egg tasted off, remove top, it's scrambled eggs on toast with bacon plus toast is dry (never buttered) and stone cold. Son's scrambled eggs and sausage, eggs good as were sausages, toast hard cold and dry, home fries same as mine. Third person, pancakes really good as were scrambled eggs but home fries mushy mess. Not sure how a place that is normally an absolute treat could fall off the rails so hard. Waitress oblivious she was clearing plates with most food left behind.
UPDATE Lunch today, friendly greeting and seated right away. Even though pretty busy, drinks and food came quickly and was delicious. I guess previous experience was one of those flukes that can happen to even the...

Well this location of Sunset Grill has gone from an amazing 5 Star to dumpster fire with 1 Star. Let me explain ... It's so simple but it's a core reason why you would normally choose to have breakfast at Sunset Grill.
The owner no longer serves coffee in the large Sunset branded cups. Opting instead for the smaller cups. Why does this matter? Guess what the coffee gets cold faster! Making the overall experience suck.
Worse is that the owner tracks when people post pictures of coffee on Google and IG. Then gets angry at the staff ... Track this in your bottomline buddy! ... We're starting to look for a new place for breakfast. Recommend others to do the same. If you haven't gone to this location ... Find another!
Really dislike being nickle and dimed about simple stuff.
PS - Your serving team is amazing. Treat them BETTER!
My best friend and I come here weekly for breakfast. The food is fresh. The service is spectacular! This isn't the same with ALL Sunset Grill locations. However THIS location is the model for the rest. From the kitchen to the front...
