Our teenage son went to Side by Side AYCE for hotpot lunch today. He was seated and when he asked for lamb and pork, they indicated that they only had beef. I am not sure if they didn't want to fulfill his request or they actually ran out of lamb and even pork! This place is supposed to serve lamb, beef, pork, chicken, etc. Couldn't they have told him before he was seated that they were out of certain kinds of meat, so the customer could decide for himself whether he still wanted to stay? To me this is an integrity issue. You wouldn't go to a steakhouse expecting it to only serve chicken after you are seated, right?
In our opinion, if the restaurant doesn't have any of the major dishes that a customer may have come for, it is best to tell the customer before he is seated, or to put up a note outside the door to state the situation, so he can decide whether to stay or leave.
The surprise was surely unpleasant. More coming...
Our son came back home for instant noodles. We were a bit confused - after all, he went to an all-you-can-eat style of restaurant. He told us he only had 3 servings of beef because the ordered 4th serving never came, and he had some neither filling nor appealing side dishes from the conveyor belt.
Not only did the restaurant not have the usual choices of meat, but also they weren't able to give the customer enough of the available type of meat.
$40 for 3 servings of beef?! It's a shame they treated a teenager who had saved up his pocket money for this expectedly-scrumptious moment, like this. We don't think we will ever go there again. We feel terrible for our son because we recommended this restaurant to him.
Maybe it's this restaurant's treatment for a teenager dining alone?
We suggest possible patrons to ask clearly what meat they have or not have before being seated.
We can't wait to try Daimaru Sukiyaki (also AYCE hotpot) just next door,...
Read moreI visited this place on a Monday night, service was good, I'd say the price is a little higher than average for AYCE ($25/person on weekdays; $28 on weekends. Then you have you pay for the soup base you choose which ranges from $5-$9). The conveyer belt idea is brilliant in my opinion, but there are some shortcomings of conveyer belt.
In terms of hot pot ingredients, raw pork/beef/lamb has to be ordered through the servers (you can order as much as you want) and the rest of the ingredients are served on the conveyer belt. I find that the choices are not as wide as some other hot pot places I've been to but sufficient to cure my hot pot craving.
The main downside of this place though, is that when the tables are full, customers at the end of the conveyer belt loop might not get full range of hot pot ingredient choice at their part of the conveyer belt. This may be because the portion of the conveyer belt dishes are relatively small so people take multiple servings and the restaurant didn't serve enough of the more popular dishes to last until the end of the conveyer belt. I saw customers from end of the loop walk out to the beginning of the conveyer belt just to get some ingredients they like, so I'd recommend trying to sit towards the inside of the restaurant if possible and avoid the bar seats near the door.
Overall, I would recommend this place to people who like self serve for quick food but doesn't like to leave their seats to get hot pot ingredients. Their biggest table sits 6 people and parking may be a little limited during dinner time so watch...
Read moreGoing to keep this short and sweet. Came here with my family and we had an amazing time. As others have pointed out, the quality isn’t the absolute best out there but it’s still pretty good.
You are paying more for the atmosphere but the key thing is; in my childhood memories, Hotpot has always been a very wholesome family thing. Not only is it a novelty, but it’s very interactive! On this note, it really was a very wholesome family experience (minus all the dish washing after haha)
I was basically non-stop eating and having fun too. There never really needed to be any waiting since we just grab what we want and they have a very modern design which is very lively and funny (they have a funny comic on the wall).
I’m a gamer myself so seeing a Street Fighter Machine adds to the idea that this is just a very family friendly place (kids can go screw around). The only negative I might add, is that seating is limited to a max of 6 if you don’t want to split up but it should accommodate most families except for big events.
The service was amazing. It was good to the point that we want to commend one of the servers, Cheyenne, for her positive and welcoming attitude. We were tended to appropriately and we had an amazing time. We’ll definitely be returning and this really is a great way to introduce anyone who hasn’t tried Hotpot before as the food are just small portion sizes and you can visually see what they are! Great for families and dates or casual small...
