For the longest time I had wanted to try Yin Ji Chang Fen but I always ended up going somewhere else since the food options in the area are so numerous. When i finally decided to come here I realized how much of a mistake it was skipping this place all these years. Now this is pretty much the only place I eat at when I am in the area as I love it so much.

I have been here on many occasions now and each time I try to have a different type of ji chang fen but also a few staples which I always order. We always do an order of curry fish balls, HK style milk tea, and the dough stick rice noodle rolls. The dough stick rice noodle rolls taste really good and feels fresh every time we have ordered it. We ordered this at another location once and it did not taste as good as the one at this location.

In terms of rolls, I have tried a number of them and you cannot go wrong with the basic pork & shrimp, shrimp & chives, and pork & chives options. Those always taste great. I have also tried the beef brisket rice rolls, shrimp & scallops, duck meat rice rolls. The only one of the three I enjoyed was the shrimp & scallops as I did not find the taste of the other two to be that special and the beef brisket one was really difficult to eat with the big chunks of meat.

The best way to describe the service is that it gets the job done effectively and efficiently. They bring you utensils, your food and the bill (though the last time we went we had to order via paper menus instead of QR code) otherwise nothing special. I do have to mention that the food gets to your table incredibly fast so even when there is a line to get in the wait is not that bad since the service is so quick.

The space itself is not incredibly large and at times when it is busy can feel a bit cramped but not too bad. The place seemed reasonably clean and bright so again no complaints there.

Overall, this is a great place to grab a quick bite at the reasonable price. It has become my go to when I am in the area and looking for comfort food so i definitely recommend giving it a try as well if you are...

Yin Ji Chang Fen, located on Warden Avenue, offers an exceptional dining experience that transports you straight to the streets of Canton, China. This restaurant specializes in traditional Cantonese cuisine, with a particular focus on their signature dish, chang fen.

One of the standout features of Yin Ji Chang Fen is their delectable chang fen. These silky rice noodle rolls are made fresh to order and come with a variety of fillings, such as BBQ pork, shrimp, and vegetables. The noodles are perfectly steamed, resulting in a soft and delicate texture that pairs wonderfully with the flavorful fillings. Each bite is a burst of Cantonese goodness that will leave you craving for more.

The menu at Yin Ji Chang Fen extends beyond chang fen, offering a range of authentic Cantonese dishes. From savory dim sum delights to flavorful stir-fries and comforting soups, there is a diverse selection of dishes to satisfy every palate. The flavors are authentic, with a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and savory notes.

The ambiance at Yin Ji Chang Fen is cozy and welcoming, providing a pleasant setting for a casual meal. The staff members are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring a memorable dining experience.

Prices at Yin Ji Chang Fen are reasonable, considering the quality and authenticity of the dishes. The portion sizes are generous, offering great value for the money spent.

Parking is available nearby, making it convenient for customers to visit the restaurant.

In conclusion, Yin Ji Chang Fen on Warden Avenue is a hidden gem for lovers of authentic Cantonese cuisine. With its delicious chang fen and a range of flavorful Cantonese dishes, this restaurant brings a taste of Canton to Scarborough. Whether you're craving rice noodle rolls or exploring the diverse menu, Yin Ji Chang Fen guarantees a delightful dining experience. I highly recommend this establishment for a memorable...

First time on this restaurant and I ordered beef rice porridge, ovaltine drink and fishballs. Food was ok in taste but The entire porridge tasted like the green vegies they used. Ovaltine drink was good but it was tiny compared to the price. The fishballs barely had any sauce and you had to scoop the bottom of the plastic cup to get some. If you want napkins you have to ask or get up and get it from the counter. They dont serve it with your food. If you want to order you have to write it down on a piece of paper I guess this is because the servers dont speak alot of english or due to covid or they really want to cut down on server time taking the orders. No clue. Everything was served in plastic. Hot porridge? Plastic bowl. Spoon? tiny plastic spoon. Drink? thin plastic cup. Fishballs? Thin see through plastic cups. Take out? They will hand you a plastic cover for your plastic bowl and a plastic bag. They didnt even include napkins or a new spoon with the plastic bag. This is the only restaurant that Ive seen do this even the surrounding restaurants serve food in plates and solid utensils and give you a different container for take out. The only time the staff will approach you with a smile and will stay for a bit is when they hand you your bill and watch you while you are on the tip screen of the machine to pay. The rest of the time its get in get out quick like when they see an empty bowl- no talking just walks to your table, grab the bowl get out no words. No wifi- this is minor but may be a thing to some customers.

The place seems to be saving on money due to covid but man I did not expect for them to cut down so much good service and utensils. It may just be me because I have not gone to many chinese restaurants so maybe its a common thing there or maybe the time of day because it was at night at around 9 pm but I am sure I am not going back to this...

Situated between Warden and Steeles, the restaurant is a in a pretty busy plaza. Coming around on Sun at 3pm, the plaza wasn't too busy, but there were not a lot of parking spots (I can't imagine how hectic it can get during busy times). The restaurant wasn't too busy yet, so we were able to get a seat right away. Luckily we came right on time because the restaurant was starting to get more people after 10 mins sitting down. The menu isn't too huge, and features mainly drinks, appetizers, their rice noodle rolls and congees to choose from. I ordered: - C9 Shredded pork and preserved egg Congee ($5.50): The bowls were pretty big haha. We could definitely tell how fresh the pork was. It was very soft and flavourful; meaning it wasn't just frozen pork. The congee itself is simple and doesn't have salt (which you can add if you like). There was a good amount of preserved egg and pork altogether which is nice to know this place isn't stingy with portions. - S6 Dough Stick ($2.25): It came with 6 pieces (one cut into 6 pieces) and I can tell it was very fresh as there was a good amount of flavour and crunch which could only be achieved if it was made fresh. - R4 Shrimp and Chives rice noodle roll ($5.25): I had a bit more expectations for this because this is what they specialized in (and it was on their restaurant name). The portion of it was the usual compared to other asian restaurants, and it was stuffed with shrimp. However, I had to say it was pretty plain. There wasn't much flavour overall and Ive had similar ones in other restaurants that had a lot more flavour with the need of soy sauce. Kind of disappointing considering their menu had their rice noodle roll on their front page. Our bill was under $30 with taxes/tips which is great if you're eating on a budget, and yet want something to fill you up. TIP: They only take cash IG: Ayenomz

I first tried this location in person when it first opened pre-pandemic, and it was okay, but I hadn't been back because it was such a small space and so busy, making for a long wait to get a table. Today, we opted for takeout, ordering rice noodle rolls, congee, and a sweet crueller. This was done via their online ordering system, which was pretty convenient. One sore point is that the system didn't tell us the wait times until after we placed the order (i.e., if the wait times are too long and would deter you from ordering, you won't know that until after the ordering is done). As a note, there is also a discount for paying in cash. I personally enjoyed the rice noodle rolls the most (the dried shrimp ones were my fave of the bunch), which makes sense since that's what they're known for. The congee was only okay; I liked that the portions weren't huge, so we could try several types of congee, but they weren't super flavourful. That said, it was still good, and our meal was fine overall! Happy Congee at Middlefield and Steeles remains our go-to for congee/rice noodle rolls/fried dough sticks, but Yin Ji Chang Fen is a good option to add to the mix, especially because the Warden location is closer for us to get to.

Our favourite chang fen stop! Family friendly. Service (Family Friendly): During our latest dine in experience, the staff asked if we needed a highchair for my daughter which was very attentive and considerate. We were brought tea and told to order from their qr code on the table. The ordering process was relatively simple, but you will need data on your phone as there is no wifi. As my daughter is still young (3yo), we tend to avoid eating at small restaurants during peak meal times (lunch and dinner rush) as she can eat pretty slow, so that usually means the staff are on break. Even so, the service we received was still surprisingly fast! Food: We've tried a variety of dishes, and ate in and bought for takeout. Very fresh, everything comes out piping hot. Our favourite is the dough stick rice noodle roll. The doughstick is crispy and light, not heavy and dense like many other places. The rice noodle are smooth and silky soft, evident of their years of practice to perfect it. The congee are flavourful and have the perfect consistency, not too thick and not too watery. They also have a selection of dim sum which was also pretty good.
