Hot Wok — Restaurant in Mission

I do NOT recommend as I got sick! This place has a buffet that you choose items from to make up a combo, but, the items looked a bit old on it. Likely because I went in afternoon after the typical lunch time. The place was completely empty. As a result, I decided to just order off the menu instead of the buffet thinking it would be hot and fresh. I ordered regular Chow Mein, and Almond Chicken with a side of Sweet and Sour sauce. The Chow Mein was terrible and had RAW cooking onions in it! And the Almond Chicken had pieces that I could not chew. I commented to the owner about the raw onions and showed him the Chicken I'd spit out due to not being able to chew it. He did not offer to make up for the issues at that time. THEN, later that night I didn't feel good... the next day and day after I was vomiting excessively and had diahrrea and a fever. Today, I had to consult my doctor as I am still sick! He believes I have either the Norovirus or Rotovirus, both of which are caused by fecal contact from an infected person. I believe the cook failed to use the proper handwashing after toilet use and then handled that raw onion to cut it up for my Chow Mein. In reading the reviews posted over the last 2 weeks I see that there have been others who've also got sick after eating here. As a result I Do NOT recommend you to eat here at all. This was my first time here tonight. The food was a quality that I expected it to be. It's about the same as you'd expect from a food court. However, when I came into tonight, Wednesday at 6:30pm, they were nearly out of food, literally. I'm not kidding. I thought it was because I came near closing time but when I saw that this store was closed at 8pm, I was shocked. There was maybe enough food for 3 people and that was it. Pickings were very slim and like I said, there was hardly anything left. The guy was nice and gave me some meat from another heating tray but I guess if you want more food, come earlier next time? You'd think when the store is open for another hour and a half they'd have some more food left but I guess not. It makes sense that the store wouldn't make a whole lot more food closer to closing time but when you're running that low, you probably should top up a little more. Fantastic! We finally found a great Chinese place! And the prices are unbelievably affordable! Mission Chinese Restaurants are expensive and gross. Dansy has small portions and $$$. Even Bamboo Palace in Abbotsford has gone downhill and is very pricey. I mentioned to Hot Wok my prior experiences including recently Prawn Garden which was an okay go to, but this time was not edible, I mean you couldn't even chew it. The wonton wasn't wonton, everything was disgusting and had to throw it all out....waste of $85! Learned that it had recently changed owners. Hot Wok added Wonton to our order at no cost for us to try and it was awesome! Everything is fresh made daily, nothing canned. Lastly, their family dinners include more food items and at less money. We got 5 items plus egg rolls at $20 less than every other place that would have offered 3 food items. I think I've ravved enough but I hope this place dosen't change a thing!
