We made a reservation for a Father’s Day lunch for 20 people, booking the table for 1:00 PM a week in advance. On the day of, we called two hours prior to ask if we could change the reservation to 2:00 PM, as we were attending a nearby car show. We were told this change would not be a problem.
However, when we arrived, we were informed that there was no booking under our name. We explained the situation, including the call we had made earlier, but the staff still insisted there was no record of our reservation. We were told we’d have to wait for a table to become available. Despite our frustration, we waited patiently for about 20 minutes and let the issue go. Our party was even smaller than originally planned, 8 adults and 5 children.
Once seated, we asked our server, Becky, if the air conditioning could be turned on or a door opened, as it was extremely warm and stuffy. Her response was shockingly rude and dismissive. She made us feel like we were making an unreasonable request, treating us with unnecessary attitude and sarcasm.
Thankfully, Tania took over our table. She was kind, professional, and quickly took drink orders and food orders for the children so they wouldn’t have to wait. Unfortunately, the drinks took a very long time to arrive. One drink, a Blue Hawaiian, looked more like green sludge, and the Bellini was separated and frothy. We complained, and while the Blue Hawaiian was removed from the bill, the Bellini was simply swapped out.
When we finally ordered the food for the adults, we waited over 1.5 hours for it to arrive. By this time, we were all frustrated. We had an elderly family member with us who was clearly hungry and uncomfortable, and some guests had other commitments they were now running late for. When the food did arrive, several people had to pack theirs in takeout containers because they were over an hour late to their next engagement.
Most of us ate quickly just to get it over with. At that point, we just wanted to leave. To make matters worse, we overheard kitchen staff speaking negatively about our table, which made some of us question whether our food had been tampered with.
When we brought our concerns to the manager or owner, he was defensive and dismissive. Instead of acknowledging the issues, he seemed to blame us for the mix-up with the booking, which did exist. In the end, we were offered 25% off the bill.
When our bills came, we noticed that they had charged us for grey goose in which we did not order. They took it off the bill once we noticed.
The overall experience was extremely disappointing. The food was mediocre, and the service, aside from Tania, was unacceptable. During a busy Father’s Day lunch, we only saw two servers handling the entire restaurant. That’s simply poor planning.
The owner needs to hire more staff, take accountability for customer service failures, and perhaps present himself more professionally as he appeared as if he had just rolled out of bed.
We arrived at 1.50pm and we didn't leave until 4.10pm.
We will not be returning to this...
Read more1st experience was good. The atmosphere was comfy, no need to dress up too fancy. The food was above expectations. Steak lobster veg, pretty much everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and the portions are unbeatable. The service was ok but not more. Staff were pleasant but the smiles were few and far between. We had to ask repeatedly for horseradish which was being served with their special. They forgot steak knives with the steak and kept returning to our table (without horseradish) looking any unused cutlery or cutlery they might be able to grab as they were short on other tables. The food is what brought us back lastnight but we were quickly reminded of the servers shortcomings. From walking in and waiting for acknowledgment from the hostess (i was a hostess and a server) to payimg the bill. I was always taught to acknowledge a new customer, letting them know youll be with them in a moment. The hostess had her head down, leaning on the counter, was on the phone and seemed more annoyed than anything, then without looking at us or anything she disappeared into the kitchen.. another 2 servers saw us standing and had us seated shortly afterwards. With a starter of garlic prawns, which comes in a delicious liquid bath of garlic butter and requires a spoon for serving, came with no spoon or side plates. The server dropped it on our table and walked away without asking if we needed anything. We finished our meals- again cooked to perfection, and she dropped the bill and left. We werent asked if we'd like dessert i had to call over another server. The food 10/10.. the service.. mediocre at best. When dinner for 2 comes to 100$ i expect better service. We'll be looking for another restaurant.. too bad we can...
Read moreWe have always enjoyed the food here, and thru Covid, we really tried to support this restaurant because they are not a chain, they are a local family owned place. We know that when dining there, it will usually take a bit more time than the norm, but the service from the floor staff and the portions really do out do any place around. But tonight, the first time in my life I walked out of a restaurant after waiting nearly an hour for our food. I had ordered the Seafood Chowder and my husband ordered one of their specials.....after 45 minutes waiting for our food, the waitress told us ours was coming up 'after the big table' - which was a table of 7.....so I asked her if our food had even been started yet, she said yes, we would have our food 5 minutes after the big table got theirs.....so we waited....our waitress continued to go in and out of the kitchen for the next 10 minutes with no food for us. My husband at this point was completely upset as if there was going to be such a wait, why were we not notified when we had been seated? So, after 5 more minutes, we got up and left. I forgot to mention, that when we arrived, there were only 7 other tables there, half were already eating their meals. I feel terrible for the waitress, as her service was wonderful, however, the kitchens...
