1st visit, 3Aug24: Ordered 2 beef/lamb donators and 2 koftas (middle eastern beef sausage). Wow, I am very impressed and satisfied with the flavour profiles. The beef Donaire was very flavorful. I had a creamy sauce with a fantastic light spicy kick. The vegetables were great too. The donairs had crispy turnips and flavourful spicy onions. The sliced mixed meat (beef and lamb) in the Donair we’re tender, did you see, and flavorful. But the beat portion was kind of small here. Then we had the beef koftas - which were tender and deliciously spiced, these were served on a bed of lettuce.
2nd visit: Ordered two chicken Shawarma on rice and 4 pieces of falafel (was cut up into 5). Taste great. Great sausage, spices, and it was whole cut chicken pieces on rice. Rice was perfect middle eastern thick consistency and creamy with the sauce. Great spices and oils. The falafel tasted great. Nice rich flavours. Great texture, spices, herbs, and aroma. Tasted very authentic. This is probably my favourite falafel I have tasted.
3rd visit, 9Jan25: Order the Alexandra beef liver on rocks, (rice) with garlic and tahini sauce and 2 beef burgers. Delicious beef liver flavour and spiced and flavoured the Egyptian way (some sour flavours from the onions/tomatoes). Delicious. The burgers were standard westernized burgers (the ones I make at a bbq). Good experience overall.
4th visit, 25March25: order to beef Donair wraps. Two soft drinks - coke. And 2 four-piece falafels (tahini sauce). Beef wraps tasted great. Falafels tasted great.
5th visit, 29April25: Ordered 2 chicken on rice (chose hot sauce, added onions and parsley), and 3 cokes (future, maybe can only order 2 cokes now). I liked the addition of parsley, it added a nice touch of flavour to the dish. Will continue ordering like this in the future.
6th visit, 22Sept25: ordered 2x chicken poutines. With garlic, hummus, medium hot sauce. Great poutine gravy. Blended with the other 3 sauces very well over the...
Read moreIn the Heart of Mississauga @ the Erin Mills Center is Asli Shawarma an authentic halal Shawarma restaurant worth a try/drop in if you have that craving for how it's done right.
They have an extensive menu of standard Shawarma food choices and some fusion dishes that are worth a try.
We had a chicken shawarma on rice and the sauces on the side plus a loaded chicken shawarma with no spice. Both dishes were consumed rather quickly and thoroughly enjoyed.
The other six members of our party had a mix of chicken shawarma on fries, falafel, mixed shawarma wrap, and chicken shawarma wrap. Portions were generous (just like the owners - more to come about that further down my review) and everything was fresh and finger smacking good. Those that tried the spicier versions of the dishes were not disappointed and definitely needed some water to cool those taste buds.
One area that could use an upgrade (and this has nothing to do with the food) is the restaurant seating which did look slightly worn and used but never took away from the authentic food experience.
Worth a mention is the generosity of the owner Sam who offered everyone in our party a bottle of water and had kind words of thanks for frequenting the restaurant. Owners like Sam are what make the Canadian restaurant experience so worthwhile and make patrons want to revisit any opportunity they get.
Yes you will have quite a few shawarma options when you visit the Erin Mills Center but do stop in at Asli Shawarma and taste the authenticity of well...
Read moreI strongly doubt the Google rating of 4.7 Stars, and it may be because of a closed business "Taza Express" there before, even the payment receipt showed Taza Express. We visited on Nov 8th, 2025, at 135pm, which is usually a busy lunch time. Not one single customer was inside the restaurant. I was very skeptical due to very strong smell of old burnt oil smoke inside the restaurant, but we ordered anyway as we were hungry. Fries were obviously very BITTER, soaked full of.burnt oil, colour was dark, may be because of old unfiltered oil. Shawarma meat was also made from stored bins, so it was not freshly cut from the shawarma machine. It was not even cooking on it. I could only eat 1/3 food before quitting. Garlic sauce was ok, and Customer Service was fine, and I don't blame the Staff, they were awesome and doing their best. However, the owner was no where to be found, who probably has zero expertise or experience in madeterranian cuisine. Price was right, and that's something I gave one extra star rating of making it two star. Very disappointing visit, especially when I was expecting a better experience. One of the worst Chicken Shawarma I ever ate in my life, period. Save your money, and I am so so sorry for this review, usually I am very open minded and supportive of local business and I tend to primote and admire their effort to make food industries better. This one, I could not go...
