I visited this place on one of my friend suggestions as he said their biryani is really good.
I placed an order of their special Veg Dum Biryani call and took about 15 minutes to prepare the food which was amazing. The cost was 16$
The ambiance is nice as per the picture I posted, I opted for take out. As soon as I had my first spoon of biryani the spices felt really good but unfortunately thats the only good thing about it. There were only rice with good seasoned spices and thats it. There were no vegetables in the biryani which was completely disappointing and I only found few pieces of potato and one tiny piece of carrot in it. There was just few slices of raw onion as you can see in the picture. As per my expectations there should be few vegetables like cauliflower, carrots, beans, fried onions, green peppers but in this biryani there was nothing. I would say it felt more like seasoned rice with pickle than biryani. Which is not worth 16$.
I hardly put any low rating for a restaurant but this one felt like it is not worth a try specially when their main attraction is biryani. Not sure about any other dish but would avoid this place in future. Cheers 🥂
Update 1 : Got a call from owner of the restaurant. Genuinely heard my opinion and discussed how the dish is actually made and what could have went wrong. Told me to try Paneer Dum Biryani which is great. Would try that someday and will update the reviews again. Felt really great that the owner cared about their customers.
Update 2: After almost 10 months went to Bawarchi Biryani to try Paneer Veg Dum Biryani as adviced by the owner itself. Owner was there in the store and didn’t charge me for the Biryani after I explained what happened last time and He informed me to provide a complementary Biryani. Even though I told him I will pay he insisted to not take the money. So I ordered Karampodi Gobi to make it even, which is south Indian style starter as I wanted something spicy.
After trying both the things have to say the Paneer Veg Dum Biryani was really tasty. The amount of paneer and vegetable was enough in the biryani. The rice was flavourful. The quality and the quantity was up to the mark which I was expecting. The Karampodi Gobi was also very flavourful and tasty, just little oily but would definitely recommend and will have it again.
So overall the second visit was worth full and in future will order again. So changing my review from 3 start to 5 star based on customer service and satisfaction and the second try of Paneer Veg Biryani and...
Read moreI was on my way back to Ajax from African Lion Safari and was looking for places to have dinner with my family. I stopped at Bawarchi Mississauga and upon entering, the place was huge. There was a person at the front desk, greeted us and told us to take any table. Since it was around 5pm, the place has ample open tables.
We ordered the following items:
Paneer Tikka Veg Manchuria Veg Samosas (Mini) Samosa Chat Veg Biryani Veg Hakka Noodles Egg Masala Curry Garlic Naan Butter Naan Paneer Butter Masala (kid friendly) Hyderabadi Chai
The Review of each Item:
Paneer Tikka - I really liked the dish because no where I have seen the Paneer this fresh. The marination was good, the onions were saute properly. Over all Taste 5/5
Veg Manchuria - This dish came out salty, within a bite we figured it was salty but then we just pointed this to the owner, he immediately got this replaced. I appreciate the owner for taking responsibility and acting so fast on this.
Veg Samosas (Mini) - Honestly the curry inside the samosa is very good, over all taste is very good, but it can be little less oily. But then since they sent it out fast, may be it was lil extra oil
Samosa Chat - Taste is good - What can go wrong with a regular samosa chat… right??
Veg Biryani - My family enjoyed this. One of the best veg biryani we had around. The flavor and biryani was so fresh
Veg Hakka Noodles - The dish is good, but the pepper was a little more than expected. Pointed this to the owner, he said he will keep a note of this.
Egg Masala Curry - The curry is subtle and tasty. But I felt we could have got 4 eggs instead of 3.
Garlic Naan - Fresh & Tasty
Butter Naan - Fresh & Tasty - The Naan are good when u specify them to make little thin. Keep this in mind.
Paneer Butter Masala - We ordered a kid friendly version and got the exact version. Mild - Non Spicy - So usually the kids version come with 3-4 cubes of Paneer, but since they messed up the Manchuria, the owner made sure we got the full plate.
Hyderabadi Chai - MUST TRY…!!!
So over all I am satisfied with my experience here and will definitely suggest to any friends or family visiting Mississauga. The reason for 5 stars even though a dish was wasted is because of the Owners attention to details towards his customers. Hope my review is helpful for people visiting this place.
Great Job Bawarchi...
Read moreI wanted to give 5 stars but felt the portion ( for takeout) average ( not big). I ordered Chicken Byrani. I only had Byrani once or twice ( from potluck) and liked it. I think its suppose to be tangy..I like the sour taste ( tangy) but only one corner of the rice had that taste ( is Byrani suppose to be tangy because that is what I like). So the first few bites really tangy and nice but too spicy ( I guess Im not Indian and just like less spicy) So the first few bites extreme spicy and tangy. The tangy was nice. But then the rest of the rice had no tang ( not tangy) and not spicy so maybe whoever made it forgot to put flavour. They only put flavour on one side. I ordered the 14.99 ( I believe) with tax comes to about 16.95. Later, I saw online that they had a smaller for less money. So for over 15 dollars the portion ( for takeout) was not very big. It was medium ( or mediocre). I just felt the box should have been bigger for 15 dollars, at least give more rice. They give you two sauces. The orange color sauce was not very good. The white sauce was very good ( yogurt). I should have ask for more white sauce if I knew the rice was going to lack flavour on one side. Like I said, the first few bites were good but after that the other side of rice had no flavour. Its just for 16 dollars ( after tax) I want more flavour ( or more white sauce). There were two piece of chicken which were Ok. I would have been Ok with just one piece of chicken and more rice ( maybe will try this next time). Ths place has potential but the day I ordered just seem like half the effort put into making it. If there were more tang ( or more sour) would have been good. Edit#2, I tried another Biryani place and although flavor good, rice firm. So I missed Bawarchi, because Bawarchi rice was nice and soft. In a way I prefer Bawarchi rice because it was soft...I just wish they gave me more rice because the other place the container was deep but just other place...
