Cute little restaurant spot that has premade mains thats heated with a basin. I believe they cook throughout the day and replenish it every now and then.
Overall, good selection of filipino dishes. Hard to really know what they were but staff is willing to explain each dish if needed. Choice between one or two meats with rice for a decent price just above $10. Also have all day breakfast with garlic rice, fried egg and a slice of tomato + cucumber + a raisin. Sort of cute.
Beef Pares Silog 5/5 - definitely can see why its a popular dish. garlic rice was very fragrant and heavy on the garlic which was delicious for me, fried garlic provided that aroma that made the dish very good eggs were well cooked, yolk was oozing giving it a nice creamy texture to the rice and extra 'sauce' not overly salty dish either beef was tender, small chunks but very fragrant in soy sauce and sweetness, good balance of garlic in the sauce but not overpowering which can happen
Dinner meals 4/5 had the squid which was nice, seasoning was very standard and you can taste the squid shine on its own, a bit one noted for this dish but overall enjoyable if you like the soy + squid combination with a hint of acidity the other dish was a beef + tomatoey sauce with some veggies, i'm sorry to say i dont remember what it was but flavours were well blended and beef was tender, would go for this again if i can choose!
Halo Halo 4/5 flan on top was delicious, creamy and smooth but I was told to mix it all together, honestly wouldve been happy to just eat the flan! ube ice cream was coconutty which I anticipated, the ube notes are present but I think overall ube is hard to really stand out somewhat on the sweet side but not overpowering jackfruit bits were great for texture, beans and such at the bottom was present and provided a good amount decent price for what its worth, very pretty for pictures!
Overall would come back for a quick meal thats relatively cheap! Good value for sure. My filipino...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed with the service of this resto. Very poor service, not a customer pleaser...their resto opens at 10 am and we were there by 10:15am. We ordered 3 silog breakfast and it comes with a soup for the price of $11.99 plus tax. At that time, their soup was not ready yet (poor time management)so we asked if we can have coffee instead. The cashier said they don't substitute. We asked what time will the side soup be ready and the owner/manager said it will be ready soon. But we told them since it is not ready yet, why don't you just substitute but then again he declined. We told him you should be ready by this time otherwise either you substitute or reduce the price as it is part of the combo meal. He argued with us and not willing to satisfy their customers. I work as a food service supervisor and our priority is to go above and beyond customer satisfaction. And we never argue with the customers. If there is something missing from the menu board, we try to offer them something else as substitute, make our clients happy and please them. In this case, coffee will be good sustitute. Most of the restaurants will compromise but not Berto's. The owner/manager did not even apologize to us. If he did and didn't argue with us, we would have felt better and they won't look so bad. He has no manners at all!!! Finally our silogs were served with sinigang broth. One of our silog was porkchopsilog. One was salty and the other one was so dry and hard. Not worth the money for the price of $11.99 plus tax. What an stressful, disappointing breakfast😣 My worst experience at Filipino resto. We will never again come back to...
Read moreChinese restaurants are probably the reason why there were only a handful of Filipino restaurants for size of the Filipino Community in GTA. That’s until recently. But now there are Filipino Restaurants almost every community where there are pockets of Filipinos. Still restaurants are limited to Mississauga in the west, York in North and Scarborough in East.
Berto’s is one of those restaurants serving Filipino food in Mississauga. It’s about 40 seats restaurant, serving authentic Filipino cuisine. Although we didn’t try many dishes yet (which we intend to do in the coming summer months ) on our second time we tried their Chicken Mami. It is more like Vietnamese Pho but with egg noodle that gives different texture. Egg noodles are little more filling than rice noodles. Broth is lot more flavorful, chunks of chicken breast, large pieces of Napa Cabbage, slices of carrots, celery topped with generous slices of boiled egg. Finished the dish with garnish of Scallions and fried garlic. Love the way Chicken Mami was put together. A full bowl of satisfaction.
Prices are very reasonable. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, in a typical Filipino fashion. As you walk in, it is easily visible that the place is run by a family, at least that is the feeling I get. Next time we will try their...
