Updated in response to the management: I NEVER ASKED NO ICE IN MY ORDER. You didn't put much ice and dilute more with water on my drink, that's why I asked for extra cup of ice. WHERE'S THE COMMON SENSE? You filled up with water because I ordered a large size. This is what I paid for in the large size, water? Where's the professional ethic in your business?
You didn't pay attention to the customer during order, the drink turned out to be horrible. Again I never said "NO ICE". It was freaking 32C outside for God sake. "NO ICE", that's your argument, seriously??
So now not only the tea was bad quality, the service is equally bad. The tea WASN'T GREEN. Even if you dilute with water it still should be green, where the brown shade comes from? You can see the tea I got at the grocery store is more green than yours on the picture. How come you own a tea shop but got no understanding quality of tea? And now made wrong accusation on customer. I do not absolutely support the type of business that is not friendly, bad customer service, and most importantly no passion and understanding of their products!
Thank you for your offer but I will not be back for another drink even if it's free! I was craving for matcha and decided to stop by here to try my luck because I was in the neighborhood. I had their original milk tea before, it wasn't that good but hoping that their matcha may be better. It turns out to be the WORST matcha I've ever had. I didn't expect supreme matcha but seriously their matcha has got to be the lowest quality I've ever tasted. It's brownish and not even green with bitter taste in the end. It's worse than culinary grade matcha.
I've got matcha milk tea at Gongcha and Coco tea occasionally at pretty much the same price and they taste like real matcha. Here, it didn't taste like matcha at all. They should not advertise "premium tea" while they serve the lowest quality tea. We got taste buds and we can taste the difference between good and bad quality tea. The price is not cheap but the tea quality from both that I tried were really bad.
I had to to go Loblaws to get some freaking real matcha at ceremonial grade and mix it with this one so I can at least finish. It's better to make my own drink than having miss and hit experience like this. Didn't worth the time and money! See the pictures below to see the difference between real matcha and the matcha I got at this store. Bottom line, I don't recommend this place, especially for their matcha! DO NOT 🛑 ORDER MATCHA...
Read moreShort: Overall, I'm quite stunned at why this place has a 4.6 rating - I am convinced that their friends and family have given these 4 and 5 star ratings to obtain a 4.6. I do not generally write reviews but I want to share my experience. The $18 I spent here for 3 drinks would have been better used elsewhere.
Long: We were quite excited to try this highly rated place. My partner and I have tried a wide variety of poor to outstanding bubble tea locations and this would be ranked as the worst.
Bobacha Original bubble tea: Very disappointed, watered down, it was warmer than the coffee (I requested it warm), smelled like cigarette and at a 50% sugar request was insanely sweet.
Taro GT bubble tea: Even more disappointed, tasted like water and sugar mixed together, extremely watered down, green tea chalky powder grit under your teeth. This was a lot less sweet at a 70% sweetness request than the bobacha drink at 50% sweetness request.
Americano with some milk: It was cold, and could be drank instantly. It was also watered down.
All in all, I prefer supporting smaller businesses, but if this is your first time having bubble tea, you will have a better bubble tea experience at a chain restaurant for sure. Do not let this skew your thoughts...
Read moreThis is the only place in the area for bubble waffle and it does not disappoint! The cafe itself is really cute and kept very COVID-safe. We ordered original milk tea with no sugar and regular tapioca pearls. Compared to ChaTime, it is not sweet, which works very well for me as I don't like the taste of added sugar in my bubble tea. That being said, I am curious to try Bobacha's 'brown sugar pearl' topping next time... I assume that might taste closer to ChaTime's pearls which taste quite sweet. Interestingly enough, Bobacha regular tapioca pearls also taste better the next day compared to ChaTime, so you can save your bubble tea for the next day (with no loss in flavour)!
As for the bubble waffle, it was REALLY yummy! I only wish that we could have eaten it right away because the hot steam from it sitting in the bag on the way home from the cafe made it lose some of the firm texture on the outside. Someday, I'll update this review when I am able to enjoy the bubble waffle immediately after it's served, in the cafe.
I'll definitely be going back. Good, fast, efficient service, delicious drinks and food. What...
