Worst dining experience ever! I arrived here at noon and waited over 25 mins for food that arrived cold and poorly made. The Vegan Chorizo Tacos had no toppings whatsoever. The menu description: Ground chorizo, with sautéed onions, beans and mozzarella cheese with red salsa and lime wedges on the side. Salsa only on the side. After inquiring with the waitress, the reply was the onions are mixed up in the chorizo. I asked her to take them back as they were never touched . I told her I have never been served naked tacos before and could not eat them. My Friend's dish Tex-Mex Quesadillas with chorizo same thing, menu description: Chorizo (Pork): Ground chorizo, with sautéed onions, beans and mozzarella cheese with red salsa and lime wedges on the side. Some of the quesadilla had chorizo and some had very little, sprinkling of cheese no onions or beans. Definitely no where close to Mexican gourmet. The bill was asked for and we were still billed for both dishes even though Rebecca the waitress told us the tacos would be not be included. We asked for the owner and as soon as he came over he immediately began berating us and yelling at us "You are going to pay like every one else here". We could not believe what was happening. We stated calmly that the food was not made properly and was missing items and we were not going to pay for something poorly made and a dish that was never touched. The offer was made to pay for half my friend's meal and the drinks but he refused and he threatened to call the cops. He then started shouting that we were haters and my friend and I got up to go inside (patio is falling apart). My friend showed his plate to the other patrons and explained what happened and the owner came up to him and told him to shut up and it looked like he was going to get physical with my friend. My friend told him calmly not to touch him. He said ok ok pay for half the dish and your drinks and get out. We paid the bill tipped the waitress well as this was not her fault and as we were walking out he kept on yelling at us and embarrassing himself and we told him we will never come back and he said he did not care. Don't go here and expect anything resembling Mexican food just the worse I have ever seen. He never offered to fix anything and for him it is all about the money. Very embarrassed to be yelled and be berated for complaining about poor quality of food. Instead of making amends, the owner began a tirade in front other patrons and compromised his integrity if he had any semblance of one to begin with. I am a huge foodie, when I do reviews I address the good and the bad and this was one of the...
Read morePlace has gone downhill. Mexican benedict is my favourite brunch in the city, but the potato side was definitely a day+ old (I cook at home so I can tell what leftovers are). That being said, the reason for my review today is the AWFUL service, so bad to the point in which I am writing my first review in the hopes the owner sees this. Are the waitresses your family or something? Are you hiring them for charity? They don't smile, they kind of just gape and are inattentive at non busy times. They seem like they are socializing with one another more than they are working. They reach over me without saying 'pardon my reach'. They don't put the food or drink in front of the right person, or ask to whom it goes. They deliver me my cheque before I'm done my drink when there are five other tables open and no line. The water cups are dirty and never filled enough. The coffee they make, especially the lattes, are so bad that I would rather get them at Starbucks. The owner has made me lattes multiple times before and he does a great job. I've noticed that the staff works a lot harder when he's around... I'm not looking for amazing service, but I don't feel like my business is wanted because most of the service staff isn't nice or pleasant to me. I used to work in service and this really irked me since I am paying for the SERVICE just like I am for the food. The asian waitress is fine, have had her multiple times and she is tends to be quick and nice. The server my main complaint is about is the short girl with long dark hair, however, there was another girl or two who I have received exceptionally bad service from. I am sorry if this hurts anyone's feelings, but the last four times I have come or so (with the same server most of the time) I have had service that just left me feeling frustrated and regretting that I spent my money here. I still really like this place's food, the vibe, and the owner. The eggs are really perfect and high quality, but my potato side was really bad last time. Brunch is the kind of food I really expect good service from, so it's been disappointing. This was my favourite brunch place food wise in the city but the service has gotten so bad that I don't want to come anymore. I'll probably come back in a few months and if the service isn't...
Read moreI think I must have ordered the wrong dishes when I came here. Seeing all the good reviews made me quite excited and the dishes in the photos looked promising.
Service 3.5/5 - nice and friendly, nothing out of the ordinary but good service overall Venue 3.5/5 - again not bad, cozy and cute with mexican flare Food - 2.5-3/5 - average, subpar and quite expensive for what we received
Taco Benedict 2.5/5 soft corn tortillas were unfortunately quite stale and rubbery even at the beginning of the order, which made the experience less appealing egg was nicely poached, good medium excited about the cactus, but not much taste or texture added to the dish which made the experience less exciting, perhaps because it was diced and heavily seasoned did taste like a taco seasoning, but nothing out of the ordinary and tasted like those we can get from the supermarket, which may be a good thing as it represents a taco but also less fulfilling overall ok, but quite pricey
Chorizo Sante Benedict 2/5 pricey for what it was I do blame myself as I should have asked what they meant by 'egg white waffle', initially i thought it would be a waffle with a batter made with egg whites (given the price of $20) but it was actually egg whites cooked in a waffle format. chorizo was on the saltier end jalapeno were thinly sliced, which ended up being overcooked and some were burnt unfortunately hollandaise was ok, but didnt really add much flavour to the dish
Sides of potatoes were good. Nothing out of the ordinary but good cook on them. Salad was good as well and not overly dressed. I do appreciate how you can choose either or both for your meal.
Overall, probably wont come back although the eggs benedict with the english muffin does look good. I think i did order the wrong dish, but I think if its on the menu it should be...
