Bombay Chopstick is a beautiful restaurant that offers a unique Chinese cuisine. The ambiance of the restaurant is simply excellent, with beautifully crafted Bombay paintings and fine dining inspired by Indian and Chinese culture.
As you enter the restaurant, the colors and textures of the decor are distinctly visible; the furniture is elegantly placed, the table setting is sophisticated, and the lighting is dim and romantic. It is a perfect small place for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience with family or friends.
We tried the Hakka Noodles, kaopao, and Momos, and I must say, each dish was outstanding in its way. The Hakka Noodles were cooked to perfection, and the stir-fried vegetables were crunchy and well-seasoned. The spices used were well balanced and never overpowering. The dish was topped with finely cut spring onions, adding a subtle aroma and flavor.
The kaopao chicken was another standout dish; the chicken was tender, and the flavors of the spices perfectly infused. The dish was mildly spiced, and the use of cashewnuts, added texture and crunchiness to the overall taste.
The Momos were a standout, something we have never tried before the way they make, and it was spectacular. The Momos were incredibly delicious, with a lightly spiced vegetable filling wrapped full of minced chicken inside, served with a dipping sauce. The dish had a perfect balance of flavors, with the dipping sauce adding to the overall taste.
Overall, the experience at Bombay Chopstick was splendid, with each dish being exceptional in its way. The ambiance, along with the service provided by the staff, was outstanding, making it a perfect place for a fine dining experience.
In conclusion, I highly recommend Bombay Chopstick to anyone looking for an excellent dining experience. The menu is a perfect blend of Indian and Chinese cuisine, each dish being cooked to perfection, and a visually stunning ambiance, making for an unforgettable...
Read moreTried the new location at Queen Street today.
The new place looks good and is setup like a fine dining restaurant.
We were seated quickly but they took forever to serve us. The staff was friendly and apologetic for the slow service.
The lady who took our order didn't put our appetizers in as a separate order so it was about 45 mins of waiting before the food showed up. I think they have teething troubles that I hope they can resolve soon.
Drinks arrived very quickly after we ordered them. The mango Lassi was watery and barely tasted of mango.
For appetizers we had the chicken wings with hot garlic sauce and the cauliflower Manchurian. The wings were fantastic and exactly how they used to be made at the old location. The cauliflower manchurian was very tasty but was not a traditional Hakka manchurian by any means.
For the main course we had the Szechuan chicken, Thai basil fried rice and the Hakka noodles. The Szechuan was overly sweet and sour and we didn't enjoy it at all. The Hakka noodles with chicken and shrimp was not bad, though it could have used more shrimp and chicken for the price. The Thai basil fried rice was not good at all. Tasted like frozen vegetables were used. There was absolutely no basil flavor and overall the fried rice was terrible.
This used to be one of our favorite places to go to before the old location burned down. The new location while being nice, doesn't have the same vibe of the old. Prices are on the higher side and portions are small for some...
Read moreHad to wait a few minutes while the manager argued with the waitress at the front counter. Finally interrupted them and asked to be seated. One of the dishes we ordered was the garlic shrimp, paid almost $15 for 7 or 8 shrimp which was in some type of broth with sliced onion I'm guessing, was not very good at all, also ordered Cantonese chow mien and sweet and sour chicken. These dishes were ok but nothing great, service consisted of us ordering and them bringing the food to our table. Needless to say, I didn't leave a tip. When we were leaving, the manager actually had the nerve to stop us and ask for a tip. I simply explained that the food was not very good and having to listen to them arguing while waiting to be seated was not very appealing. Should have just left in the first place. The manager continued to press for a tip, trying to embarrass us I'm sure, wrong guy to play that game with. Told him I absolutely would not leave a tip and not to worry as we would never be back. We have been there a few times in the past and have had a pleasant experience, and yes have also left good tips, different staff on the other occasions though. In my opinion, tips are based on dining experience, food quality and service, none of which were satisfactory, tips are not an automatic given. We will never go back to this establishment again and will avoid it like the plague. Would have giving it a rating of less than one star but unfortunately is...
