Amazing place, great service, wonderful food!
TLDR: My family and I finally had the opportunity to try Dough Master last week. It is a small gem in Streetsville that specializes in Iraqi bread and foods. We’re always on the hunt for good shawarma and Middle Eastern foods because, while there are plenty of Middle Eastern restaurants in the GTA, good food that tastes like back home is hard to find. Here is our experience at Dough Master:
Ambiance: The place is small; you can tell it is mostly designed for takeout but there are a couple of tables if you want to dine in. The decor is lovely and simple. The owner displays the Iraqi bread he makes in house, fresh daily, and the bread aroma really sets the tone that you’re about to eat something freshly made.
Service: Arab hospitality is definitely a thing, and we were not disappointed! The owner greeted us and described to us some of the breads and meals they offer that are unique to Iraq. They do have subtle differences from the other Middle East countries in how they spice their meets and mold their dough. The servers were equally friendly and kind!
Food: Now for the bread and butter of this review (pun intended)! In North America, it is very hard to find a good shawarma; from Toronto to Austin, Vegas to Vancouver and to Montreal, I can say I’ve probably had two or three good shawarma’s in this continent. Dough Master really nailed it with both the chicken and beef shawarma! We obviously had to try both. I recommend requesting a bit more sauce for the beef shawarma because they serve it in Sammoun bread (Iraqi), and so they add the sauce at the top.
One thing that stood out for me on the chicken shawarma was the thinly sliced chicken, and the moisture. The way they slice the chicken makes sure it’s not dry or chewy. Some establishments slice thick slices and don’t have enough grease to moisten the chicken. I ordered chicken on Saj, and it was so tender so delicious. I asked for the original shawarma but added pickled turnips because I love turnips. Honestly reminded me of the shawarma I used to get from a restaurant in Sharjah. It was very well done. I haven’t had a good shawarma like that in a long time. And the saj bread was so good. Not dry at all.
Of course, we had to give their baked goods a try. So we bought their Arouq bread (parsley bread) and their Kahi bread which resembles a lot the Algerian “msammen.” And we obviously couldn’t leave without fresh Sammoun bread. I gave all of them a try and I think Dough Master deserves a five star for its food. You can tell there’s a lot of passion put into this business. I really enjoyed the Kahi, heated up and with honey.
Accessibility: the restaurant is located in a plaza with plenty of parking. There are no steps so it is accessible, but doors are not automatic fyi.
All in all this is a great place and I can’t wait to come back and try their meet and...
Read moreI don’t usually ever leave negative posts but when there is complete dishonesty involved and false advertising I absolutely will. We ordered Akkawi manakeesh and also ordered cheese and sujok manakeesh and nothing we received is what we ordered which is extremely wrong to do to any paying customer and we did drive a long distance based on the “positive” reviews we read. The cheese is NOT Akawwi whatsoever as seen in the photo..they used some very tasteless cheese therefore they should NOT charge this premium for Akkawi. Second, there was NO sujok in the sujok manakeesh except tomato paste scattered here and there. I could have easily gotten a pita bread and put cheese on it at home if this is the case or went to pizzaville for half the price. I don’t believe this 4.8/5 review. Please be sincere with your paying customers next time and advertise your menu honestly instead of have them be surprised by their order after they leave…. and it’s too much of distance to go back now to change it. Definitely never going back and I do NOT recommend this place at all to anyone that truly loves proper...
Read moreHere is where you get delicious, cheese-filled dishes and hearty sandwiches. Dough Master Review: Dough Master is a highly rated Middle Eastern restaurant located at 128 Queen St S #23, Mississauga, ON. It offers a variety of delicious options that seem to focus on rich flavors, hearty portions, and fresh ingredients. I tried the cheesy bread topped with cheese looks amazing, showcasing a golden-brown crust with a satisfying cheese pull. This dish alone seems to be a must-try for cheese lovers. White cheese is known for its creamy texture, which blends perfectly with the crispy dough, offering a balanced taste. I tried the mest stuffed bread sandwich, likely filled with slow-cooked meat, providing a savory, satisfying bite. The bread looks freshly baked, soft on the inside, and crispy on the outside, adding great texture to the meal.
Overall, it seems like Dough Master is a perfect spot for anyone craving fresh, homemade-style Middle Eastern food. With prices ranging between $10-$20, it offers good value for...
