Excellent Korean food experience with friendly proprietors who believe in their food. Our group tried a number of different dishes and all were excellent. Many were a lot of fun to behold, coming out bubbling or sizzling in the hot stone bowl. We loved all the side dish/condiments that came with the meals as well. Flavors were great and you are given the option of spice levels. If you are adverse to hot spices then try the bulgogi which is slightly sweet or the bibimbap which is neutral. The place is not particularly attractive and isn't a place for a romantic date, but the food is great and the service is friendly. The meal came out fairly quickly, and the rest of the service was attentive and they filled our condiments/pickles as needed. They're very happy to explain the dishes and how to eat them, and how it is good for your health. Prices are consistent and decent at about $16 a dish. They only have about a dozen dishes, so it's nice they stick to a few and do those really well. The restaurant is small but they have seating for around 30 people. Parking in the lot just north is small and looks full, but there is more parking and covered parking further and around back. The weirdest thing of the night was seeing some plastic grapes decorating the handle above the toilet in the washroom.

Great food, just a bit disappointing. I ordered a combination tofu stew, description said it contained mussels, shrimp, and beef. Sounds great— but it was very disappointing since there was 1 very small mussel, 1 tiny shrimp, and 3 very very VERY small pieces of beef. The rest was tofu. The taste was still delicious, but I was a bit frustrated that I didn’t really get what I expected. And $16 for a bowl of tofu isn’t really worth it in my opinion. The meat is what I’m paying for, and if there’s literally no meat, then that is very disappointing. The reason why it still gets 4 starts is because it was still really good. Taste wise, it had no problem. I was just very disappointed with my portion of meat. I hope they add more, but if it’s financial not possible, I’d consider raising the price by a couple of dollars to add what people ask for/buy. The ham, sausage tofu stew had much better portions of meat, probably bc ham and sausage are much cheaper. Still, please would love to get what I asked for next time. Unfortunately might not return here though.

Buk Chang Dong is still the chapel for Korean spicy tofu stew in the city. It's dotted all over the city, with a popular following. My better half for one couldn't resist going when we lived closer. While roaming through Mississauga, we were enthused by the idea of lunch there for the first time in a long time. The menu is simple: a small selection of Korean spicy tofu stews along with dishes like Bibimbap that pale in comparison. We always order #1 & #3. Soon Tofu with beef /mussel / shrimp for me; kimchi / beef / pork for her. A while after, boiling red cauldrons loaded with silky tofu arrive from the kitchen. Then crack a raw egg on top. Soup broth was well-balanced with rich savoury seasoning plus spicy heat. It was a bit strange that we were consistently served after though we were the first patrons. It was empty when we arrived but tables next to us were assigned shortly after. Some of the dine-in policies were quite lax when we visited during pandemic dining.

Edit#2: I am sad to see the original owners go, but the new ones are very friendly. They have freshened up the space with paint and new table tops. The food still tastes excellent. I am disappointed that they got rid of the sprouts banchan, it was my favourite. The banchan portions are also very small now. Other than that, it is still delicious.

Edit: This place has not changed; quality food, ingredients, and flavour. The employees are friendly. Still love coming here after all these years.

To the reviewer who said the cooks are Chinese and patrons are not Korean.. clearly, you do not come here enough to know this. This is a Korean family owned establishment, and over the years, they have garnered patrons from all walks of life. I see many korean families and couples dining here all the time. I also see people of various ethnicities enjoying their delicious food.

--previous review--- We have been going here for 7 years! We have never been disappointed in the quality of the food. It is so delicious & portions are perfect. We feel very full after a meal here. The owners are elderly, kind folks (this is a family run joint), and I feel it doesn't matter what hour of the day we go, they are always there. They work...

Went in for dinner around 6pm, it was full and have to wait the owner/server for 15mins to clear table. Server was attentive, polite and apologetic, it was hard for him to take care of 15 tables of diners. We ordered one tofu combo (shrimp, mussel) with rice and one tofu combo (mushroom, mussel and zucchini) with noodle, and one order of vege dumpling. The two tofu combos were ok flavoured, however the ingredients were way too little. They literally only gave one tiny shrimp and one mussel in each combo with the rest of tofu, and the mushrooms in noodle were so thin that you would probably be amazed and wondered how good the knifing skill in the kitchen.. also ordered vege dumpling and when you would think they should offer more in quantity to compensate the different ingredient from beef dumpling, unfortunately beef or vege both are $6 for 6 pieces. And they only provided one round of side dishes, which should come in two sets since we ordered two main combos, but we ended up have to share one set with no re-fill. Food taste was ok, but the dining experience and prices / portions were definitely...
