Do not order from this restaurant if you have a nut, peanut, or food allergy. Their staff are completely unaware of the ingredients being used. When I called to clarify what the ingredients were in a simple chicken kebab, their server had no idea, and just kept repeating “there is cross-contamination“. When I asked specifically whether there were nuts in the chicken, sauce, or oil, she repeated the same information, and finally said that there were nuts in the sauce. I was polite and respectful throughout the conversation, and they were rude and dismissive. I asked what type of nut was in the sauce, and she was not able to explain. I think that this restaurant doesn’t know how to handle individuals with food allergies, their servers are not trained appropriately with the basic information of their ingredients, cannot inform their customers, and just say cross contamination to cover themselves. I stated that because they did not seem to know what was in their own food, whether they could please cancel my order. She tells me she cannot, but then directs me to cancel the order myself on Uber, which charges me 43 dollars for no food. This was even though the restaurant had not started preparing the food yet, and the server was able to double check and ask the kitchen use the chicken for another order, because this is a chicken restaurant. Incredibly disappointing service, and this should be the bare minimum for a large franchise. By law, they have to know what is in your ingredients and be able to provide this information to customers, without just saying “cross contamination”, because they don’t want to deal with individuals who have food allergies. It’s not as though I went to a peanut store and expected a meal without peanuts. I went to a restaurant that serves chicken, and can’t even tell me what type of nuts they keep using all over their kitchen. So they use nuts all the time and say “everything is cross contaminated” but don’t know what types of nuts these are? I will be filing a formal complaint...
Read moreI ordered from Skip the Dishes their special combo (half chicken and side). Delivery was quick and packaging was nice. I found the chicken more flavourful and moist than Nando's, although the potatoes were a bit undercooked and difficult to chew through. The meal would've been pricy, but I had a 50% off discount. I'd give the food a solid 4/5.
However I'm writing this review based on my second experience with Galito's. Earlier this week I decided to order takeout, from their website this time, due to the first positive experience I had. For some reason the website didn't let me sign in as a guest, so I had to sign up for an account with phone and email. Okay. Anyways I ordered the half chicken + 1 side combo again at 7:15 PM; the website said it would be ready at 7:44. At 7:40 I get a call from the restaurant asking me if I can wait until 8:00 to pick up since the chicken wasn't ready. Okay whatever, fine with me. When I got there at 8:05 they handed me a huge bag and asked for $74. Apparently something went wrong with the website and it placed the wrong order (it wasn't a mix-up either since there were no other half chicken orders I was told). The cashier went to the back and I heard some shouting that went on for 5 minutes. Then she came back out and took my order again, but I had enough sense to ask her how long it would take. She said another 15 minutes.
At that point I just politely declined and walked down the street to the nearby Pho place instead. Over an hour of my life wasted due to sheer incompetence and for that I give a 1/5 stars. Maybe if you dine in or order through a third party app the experience would be better, but stay away from...
Read moreBeen here a couple of times. The chicken is pretty good. The people at the counter are friendly so no complaints there.
A couple of things I noticed. First time I was waiting for an order and could see the cook behind in the back. I could see him kind of toss the plate with chicken and fries on the counter and a bunch of fries fell out of the plate and onto the dirty counter. The guy scoops and picks up the fries with his bare hands and throws them back onto the plate like he doesn't care. Mind you the manager of the place was standing right there and he Kind of felt bad for the person that was going to eat that plate. I know no restaraunt is perfect and probably most of them have this kind of thing. But just seeing the guy do it made me not want to eat here.
Probably over analyzing at this point but the first time I wasn't are so I just stood in front of the counter waiting for the food to take to my table. The waitress said she will bring it to me. I said it's OK I'll just grab the plate myself. But she insisted firmly no this is just how we do things here. so i said ok. Now it makes me wonder.. maybe they don't want customers to see how messy they do things in the kitchen while standing at the counter lol.
Second thing I noticed was the bathroom. I don't know what it is but it smells really bad. I know at this point yourr saying a bthroom smells but im not talking about a regular bathroom smell. It smelled like there was rotting food sitting just behind the wall or something. I had to hold my nose while I was in there. The floor was mopped but the smell was really bad.
Chicken is good but I'd really suggest they fix these two issue I noticed as...
